From me if I get one for posting in a Baba thread. I will not be told, ordered, or bullied about my posting habits for whatever the reason. I will post when I please, where I please, and on whatever fucking topic I damn well please, and nobody will stop me from doing so. Nothing personal you understand, but I have a very strong dislike of folk trying to tell me how to behave...even more so when they try to bully me into compliance. To put it in simpler terms:
But this is exactly the kind of bullshit that Starguard thrives on. I was negging and insulting this little prick well before it was the cool thing to do, and the only thing he does is post LOL smileys. It doesn't phase him. And this is just the kind of thing he craves. If anyone else wants to (rightfully) negrep those responding to their idiocy, just fucking DO it without wasting more bandwidth telling you you're doing it.
Baba threads don't really annoy me like Startard threads do. Unlike Startard, Baba is occasionally (very occasionally) funny.
Baba can be very funny, sometimes even on purpose. That being said, I very rarely look at either of their threads. I have a very strong reaction to being coerced into not looking or posting however.
*chuckles* And this could have been a nice PM to Scorp...but then it couldn't create some public pressure in order to coerce Scorp into not posting in the manner he sees fit, would it? You may hate it, but have no problem using the tactic yourself. Plus, there is now the bonus prize of everyone knowing that you do, in fact, care about your rep score no matter what you claim or this plan could in no way work to coerce you into anything.
This. I can't decide whether to laugh at or feel sorry for anyone who gets worked up because of words on a monitor - regardless of the username attached to the post.
Why would I PM Scorp about this, a public thread he posted? Why keep a negative reaction to it private? Let me see if I understand how this works the eliteforge way: Scorp makes a RR thread announcing that all the other rep warriors and himself are going to try and coerce the members of the board through rep into not posting in a Baba or Starguard thread. Now instead of arguing about this public plan out in the open for the entire board to see and comment upon, I should have done it undercorver via pm's, cutting the membership out of the discussion, and keeping possible board eruptions to a minimum, is that the correct, eliteforge way? Why would I, and just how many pm's have you sent out to them about this? As for rep itself, it doesn't matter. If it did, I would post girly threads galore, green room threads with loads of pics of my dog and cat, and I would only ever argue with the WF approved outsider list, Liet, garamet, Mewa, Baba, etc, etc, everyone here knows which ones they are. That will guarantee a hell of a lot more pos reps then fighting with Scorp, ShootER, Elwood,or you. Now do you find it acceptable that a handfull of bullies try and force the rest of the membership to do as they wish to drive out some easy targets, rather then use the ignore function?
Stupid thread. You do realize you're just helping Leit and his ridiculous bumping of all the retard threads he can find? What purpose does that serve? What purpose does it serve to block for him AFTER he gets neg-repped for bumping those threads? Do you like spam? You can post whatever the hell you want, in which ever thread you want, and I can neg-rep you if I want. Deal with it.
Oh nooooo. That's way too simple. It's a picket line, people. You have the right to cross the line if you want, and we have the right to pick up a big red rock and sling it at you.
My personal opinions don't matter. Certainly not in the Red Room where people can mostly do what they want. And this is about community discussion my foot...it's about doing to Scorp what he's doing to others and if that sort of coercion is anathema to you then you are a hypocrite to engage in it yourself. I believe this is the policing yourselves that a majority of you wanted from the very beginning.
Well, I usually don't use the ignore function, because it was quite easy to just skip a Baba post, or a Baba thread....likewise with the crap Startard posts. But when people like Liet are bumping old threads, the whole fucking first page gets clogged up. WF was doing pretty well the past month or so. Lots of interesting discussions, until last night.
Liet is an example of impossible "self-policing". What do you (the general you) propose we do about his actions last night?
One instance of the staff being needed to deal with a necrospam problem is not evidence we have to moderate like TBBS.
I have no problem with you guys simply deleting all the spam threads Liet bumped. And I don't want a spam rule either.
Well...then there is the road of defining spam and consistently applying it and then those threads that may have turned into awesome discussions never happen. There is the that will happen in the Help Desk anytime the staff deletes a thread. Especially if the thread is not started by Baba or Starguard and the poster gets offended we deemed their topic spam. The simplest answer, with the least nasty repercussions, is for people to manage their own experience and refrain from clicking threads they don't want to see. When it gets way out of hand, like Liet's stunt, a boxset seemed to work well.
That is my point. Don't try and tell me what to do or try to force me to do it. Take care of yourself, and let me worry about me and mine.
