And Archer's daddy-lecture to Trip is the absolute last straw. I'd be in the brig for rank insubordination for going into an "ohhhhh, you fuuuuuckin hypocrite...." rant. Trip just has to stand there and take it like a bitch. Ugh. Cringe.
Surprisingly, the original grading thread from that episode is still up on TBBS from 2003 and you've got a shit ton of people gushing about "tHe CoSeQuEnCeS" finally being faced for their actions. But who other than Charles suffered said consequences? I mean, really? Archer and the Vissian Captain unfollowed each other from Space Tumblr over it, but so? Trip has a sad about it, but Charles will be in his rearview mirror the minute Florida gets blown to bits. The ambassador and his wife have enough power and privilege to cut the line for a replacement congenitor, so this is a minor delay at worst. If Archer had not become best buds with their captain, he'd have beaten Trip to the punch teaching Charles about 'murican freedoms his damn fool self as we've seen him do on too many occasions to count. Trip knew him better than anyone on the ship: he had NO reason to think he wouldn't have been supported. And being military, Archer's shit ass lines piss me off even more. It's funny, I showed that Congenitor review thread to a non-binary kid on Tumblr and they looked at those glowing comments as though we were smoking crack for saying anyone was held to any sort of account. Met queer Trek fans who said they always had problems with the optics but got shouted over by straights. And yeah, I accept much of the praise came from cis, hetero people who were just happy for something that wasn't mind numbing stupid, but the idea of death is better than subjugation is...not a story that should be told by two middle aged cishet white men. The episode didn't involve T'Pol in skivvies, so there's that, I guess. But I'm glad Trek 3.0 is giving proper queer rep instead of allegory so we no longer get self wanking shit like this.
When i browsed the Perfect Mate article on Memory Alpha this morning to double check my spelling, I learned that apparently there was a deleted scene where members of the crew were supposed to point out that the whole arrangement was basically slavery, to which Picard was supposed to make a speech about the importance of not judging other cultures. Gross.
Picard kind of hints at it basically being slavery, but then she says she’s okay with it so it just kind of gets swept under the rug.
It's probably more a case of not recognizing it to begin with. The hypocrisy from Archer rankled from first viewing, as it did for most people, but the comfort of non-binary and other gender non-conforming people was not on straight people's radar. And looking at it as an allegory for female rights, I don't think I need to spell our why Rick "Why Don't You Have C Cups, Terry?" Berman was the last person who should have writtwn on that subject.
See, this is why Tuvix works far better as an episode with no clear cut answer to debate over. Regardless of where one lies on that topic, no one alive has been affected by forced medical separation and Janeway had the lady balls to deal with the issue herself directly.
‘Strange New Worlds’ is the first prequel Trek I’m actually excited about. And I never even watched Discovery Season 2. I hope the show isn’t awful. Anson Mount (sp?) sounds like an awesome Pike so I’m intrigued. Had zero interest in Enterprise when it premiered and after 20 years I still have no interest in going back to watch it. I’ve seen the occasional episode here and there but it’s never pulled me in to make me want to watch more. I have no interest in Discovery either. They should have started off with a post-Nemesis futuristic storyline right from the get go instead of trying to retcon TOS again. Tried a couple episodes but didn’t really like any of the characters. If other people like it that’s cool, but not for me. I guess that’s why they are pumping out so much Trek? To cater to different tastes? I sort of enjoyed Picard but it also felt a bit too much like fanfic. I thought Picard’s story was pretty much complete by First Contact. Did like seeing Seven again although the relationship with the other chick literally came out of nowhere. WTF? Season 2 doesn’t sound very interesting. We will see. Most likely will tune in just for the Picard/Q interactions. Don’t really care about the other characters.
Some random thoughts on Klingon anatomy. For those of you who watched Discovery, you will remember in the S1 we discovered that Klingons have two penises (each!). So, two dick Klingons as standard ... this means Jadzia and Deanna could've both had their way with the warrior AT THE SAME TIME - preferably facing one other and kissing sensually. Worf has a warrior's orgasm and does his death growl. Missed opportunity, Berman. Does Alexander have two dicks? If his mother was half-human then he's 3/4 Klingon, right? Was his bizarre enrollment in the Klingon Defence Force motivated by his single dick issues? I bet KOR had 3 dicks. What a fucking legend. (Dahar Master = three dicks?). I'm bored. Should be working. Klingon dicks on the mind - what can I say?
If the guys have two dicks, the ladies have to have two pussies to match. But do they empty into one uterus, or do they have double uteruses? I guess if every organ has a redundant backup, it would have to be two uteruses, wouldn't it? But then, why do they only have two tits?
I'm thinking it's more like one of those DP things and that two partners wouldn't be able to get the angles correctly. It kind of makes sense that L'Rell was on top though
If a Klingon needs to father more than two children in order to expect them to survive, his seed is weak!!
Two kids - one from each dick. The natural fights over which one came from the dick nearer the asshole toughen them both.
Double penises make very little sense. It smacks of a writer trying to be edgy, but it's just eye-rolling. Unless they were independently controlled, they'd either both have to be, er, in use which could be a couple different kinds of uncomfortable for the female Klingon involved, or one would be in the way. Or, as @Diacanu suggested, the female would need similar redundancy.
Lorca outright said to L'Rell that a human male wouldn't have the requisite number of body parts required to please a Klingon female, so... From Memory Alpha:
https://www.sciencealert.com/here-s-why-some-animals-have-two-penises I don't care enough to read it, but apparently some animals on Earth do have two dicks.
Huh ... this is what I get for tuning out whenever boring Klingon shit is going on. However, it seems like even if Jadzia and Deanna were squished together as closely as possible, there's no way that two penises located in roughly the traditional place could actually penetrate them both at the same time. It would work if Klingons were like that alien in TUC with genitals on his knees, but otherwise it just doesn't seem like it could work geometrically. Maybe there was an Earth urban legend about Klingons having two dicks and that's what Lorca was alluding to. That's getting uncomfortably close to some racist tropes that exist in our own society, but then, he is from the Mirror Universe, so there's no reason he has to be a likable guy ...
Reminds me of Piers Anthony's Pornucopia, which was thrillingly transgressive when I was a horny 14-year-old. The hero ends up getting surgery to give himself a three-pronged dick, two of the prongs being more or less traditional in size and one being about 36 inches long, so that he can make a woman "airtight" all by himself. Piers Anthony is a weird dude.
hmm... and Worf devolved into a semi reptilian in that TNG episode, so once again Discovery nails it when extrapolating from canon.
Speaking of alien genitals, Lower Decks needs to make a nod to all the weird Vulcan genitals in the fanfic canon with a gameshow playing in the background called "bells, spaghetti, or fork?".
That sounds like a parody in the spirit of Star Trek: The Next Fornication https://theclassicbadficarchives.wordpress.com/star-trek-the-next-fornication/ That thing is a fucking classic amongst badfic aficionados, even three decades later, complete with Troi using a double dildo with Crusher or Yar (I don't remember which) and Riker giving Wesley surprise buttsecks in the shower. Also Wes watches his mom explore her neutral zone. Great times.
The best fanfics have someone going down on both Deanna and Beverly and noting that half-Betazoid pussy tastes different, because science.
we don't technically know they had two penises, or a split penis, only that they pissed a split stream - which theoretically can be done from a single penis.
