If you mean a jab at the nitpicky nerd fanboys for complaining about that scene in Picard, then I agree.
The great thing about this show is that even when it does things that are clichéd or even kind of dumb, I don't care because it's just so damn much fun.
There was some good commentary in the subtext of the episode as well, IMO. Of course, Dayton would have missed all of it because of all the pew pew (Not to mention that in universe Captain Dayton did miss all of it because of pew pew )
I have a feeling there were a bunch of Easter eggs in all those bridge shots of the other Cali-class ships that I'm gonna have to watch the TrekCulture ups-and-downs video to get all of ...
I watch this show as a completest, it's not really my style, but I gotta say - whoever that archeologist gal was - I liked her. Too bad we'll seldom if ever see her again, the scenes with her and Mariner were the seed of something fun in a different sort of way than just sending up Star Trek tropes
Yeah, because while screencrush does a good job with the eggs, I hate the asides with that fuckin' dog.
Some interesting nods in the final episode. The photon torpedo sound effects were clearly a nod to Filmation's animated series. Not to mention Mariner basically being Indiana Jones raiding the temple. There were some music cue nods to TWoK as well. The music playing when the ships were lining up to start their race sounded an awful lot like what you hear when Kirk is buying time with Khan so they can find the prefix code. "Shutter" was an odd term, however. generally, I think that they would use the term "mothball" or "scrap" in such a situation. Dr. T'Ana says she spent 7 years on the Oberth. That's pretty clearly a reference to Werner von Braun's mentor Hermann Oberth. Bit of a deep cut. Dude was working with von Braun on building V-2s but hasn't had his reputation tarnished by this in the public perception like von Braun has. Also, I can't believe that Admiral Beunamigos would be willing to disclose his plans over the comm system. Surely he'd know that Starfleet, if not the captain, would have a way to record that shit.
I can't find the clip but the music when the Cerritos ejects the warp core sounds a lot like what you hear as Spock finishes repairing the warp core.
I believe it's the second time, the previous time being at the end of the Crisis Point II a couple weeks ago.
Can't recall if I said it here or Reddit but it feels like this was written to be more of a series finale in case the show ended without a renewal. Course now, other than Badgey's return, I have no clue where the show can go from here and I mean that in the best way possible and I love it enough that I may dust off my old Star Trek fanfic account to post a fic in this fandom for the first time since high school. Time really is a flat circle, huh.
Hmm, Protostar has a deadly virus, Badgey is a deadly virus, they need to have Badgey get picked up by the Protostar, and have him be the cure.
Which reminds me, there's another deep cut that I never see anyone discuss from the season 2 finale where Mariner is about to speechify about where her issues stemmed from and Freeman cuts her off to remind her that Red Alert isn't the time for that If that wasn't gentle teasing at Discovery, I don't know what is.
Thanks, I hate it https://www.reddit.com/user/Mike170...ndroidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
Looks like a movie may be in the works https://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/ent/exclusive-star-trek-lower-decks-movie.html I could see this going direct to Paramount Plus but in the unlikely event this got a theater release, my ass would be there on opening night paying full price.
"Stand By Me" is on, and that makes me think...I'd like to see a SBM reunion on LD! Create a new character for Corey Feldman, and have him meet Wesley and Ransom, and have them go on a quest to retrieve the body of a dead redshirt! Have Kiefer Sutherland as a Romulan waiting for them. It writes itself!
Oof, I'm late on this because I was on vacation in Hawaii when this dropped and I'm sure people have already seen but.... https://trekmovie.com/2023/01/17/mi...-4-wedding-visit-to-orion-more-peanut-hamper/ Shax/T'Ana wedding confirmed? Also, Orion?! Yes, please! The Mariner/Boimler fanbase has been going apeshit over that 2nd paragraph all week, but given McMahan had not been the biggest romance fan, I'm betting it's going to be either some other ridiculous ship no one thought of or Mariboims happening in the most Monkey's Paw way that no one wanted
