Okay, someone define please. Also, I'd definitely rather be overdressed than underdressed. There'll be important people present, much older than me, and they have something I want to have in the not-too-distant future IMHO.
nice shorts and a Hawaiian button-down shirt, or madras shorts and an upscale T-shirt. Decent sandals on the feet.
I'm in Hawaii. Cargo shorts, $3 flip-flops, and a dirty t-shirt seems appropriate for about 95% of things out here. Except they don't call 'em "flip-flops," they call 'em "slippers." Actually, "beach casual" in Hawaii would be board shorts and nothing else.
The word 'dresscode' gives me goosebumps. I hate that and would never, ever work at a company that has one. Or visit an event where they print one on the invitation because they think you're too stupid to chose for yourself. If they don't trust me enough to have the right sense they don't deserve me. For guys it's easy anyway. Beach casual means everybody wears the same polo shirts and the same light linen trousers. Don't wear shorts, they have no place in business. The only deviation from the uniform will be the color of the shirt
Heh. That reminds me: "Officially" in the Marine Corps "formal", of course, would be a tuxedo. "Casual" is a jacket and tie. And "California casual" is a collared shirt and trousers. Dunno if "California casual"="beach casual".
Yes, it's good to be house trained and ready to become just like them if you want to make it in the corporate world. Personality is just an obstacle. Personally I'd tell them where to shove the alms they pay you for working like a dog when it means becoming ified.
If they were, I wouldn't worry about pissing them off. I'll have to suffer for another 4 years until I get there. But then I'm sure you already knew that. Can you guess the company though?
^ How could I guess the company? As long as you and Storm don't get their way, there's more than one Btw, I wouldn't call university 'suffering'. It's really the last phase of your life when you can be yourself. Enjoy it. Or are you one of those that sit in the first row dressed up like at a business meeting? Personally, I was the one in the last row still drunk because I hadn't been in bed before lectures
