My mother has treated herself to regular visits to the hair stylist/salon for years. So does my sister.

However, I've noticed that there aren't many young women who do this. The younger generation seems to consider this type of personal pampering to be vain and superfluous. It's almost as if young girls/women are no longer raised to consider their looks/beauty to be important, and therefore don't feel the need to invest any time/effort/energy into maximizing their god-given assets.

    What say you ladies?

If you ask me (and you haven't), for the vast majority of the ladies here a session at the salon would be the icing on the cake. The natural beauty is enough.

Besides, I think most guys don't like kissing makeup or fondling starchy, sprayed hair. Women seem to have picked that up.

You make it sound like you'd be making out with your grandma. Caking on makeup and hair as stiff as an ironing board isn't what I'm talking about. I'm talking about women going to the salon to have their hair done and styled.

I've seen women do far too much makeup.

    It's quite the turnoff.

    Minimalist is always best, IMHO.

I don't mind some makeup on a woman, but too much is a turn off for me.

My girlfriend cuts her own hair and doesn't put on a lot of makeup.

Damn is she good looking to wake up to in the morning .

What planet are you from, again? Young women don't visit (a) hair salons, (b) nail salons, (c) waxing salons, (d) tanning salons, (e) skin consultants, (f) day spas, etc., etc., etc. where you live?

    Fascinating.

Most photographs cut out of a Victoria's Secret catalog are pretty hot, yes.

I try to remember to brush my hair every day. That's about the max time I spend on "beauty."

I go to the hair salon about every six weeks to get it cut properly and well. I go get a massage when I can afford the place I want to go. Which is twice now :garamet:, but on the plus side they opened up a day spa in OKC so I don't have to go to Dallas anymore.

I do my hair and make-up everyday I go to work, but that consists of flat iron, and a little hairspray. For the make-up base, blush, and eye-liner. I've never really needed a lot. I do pull out the full stops when Flow and I go out.

I put care into my appearance plenty. I don't think you have to do it every week. Besides what fun is it if you do it every week, it just becomes a chore.

On a regular basis, I wear concealer to hide spots and blemishes, and some lip tint. That's about it. A little powder in the summer to help kill shine. I'll take approximately 4 minutes to deal with my face in the morning. Sometimes I'll throw on some eyeliner and a little mascara if I'm in the mood to get the "Oh! What beautiful eyes you have!" compliment. If the eye shadow comes out, that means I have a hot date or am going to a wedding or some such deal.

As for hair, I will blow dry it for special occasions but other than that I let it do it's own freaky (and frizzy) thing.

I don't 'go' tanning. It's expensive and ruins your skin. In a few years from now I will be just fine being pale yet wrinkle and melanoma free, thank you very much. Pedicures/manicure? I've had ONE manicure, that was for prom, and I has gritted teeth the whole time. I could not stand having my nails hacked at and sanded.

I like the girly stuff and I practically live in my garden tub with all my various bubblebaths, creams and perfumes, but I don't really bother with make-up and such unless I am going somewhere special, I want to surprise/seduce Zel or I am just in a makeup mood.

I figure Au natural is overall healthier than any gunk I slop on and I stay out of the sun 95% of the time. Of course that makes me very pale...or porcelain as they like to kindly call it.

The upside, so far (knock on wood), is that most people think I look younger than 34. I love those people.

Anyway, I don't mind embarrassing myself so...Me...without makeup, with makeup and let's face it, the only thing men really give a damn about anyways:

I straighten my hair once or twice a week.

Occasionally use some powder to "help kill shine."

For special occasions (graduation, weddings, etc. in other words, almost never) I wear base, powder, blush, and lipstick. I don't need any mascara because my eyelashes are very nice and long. :)

    That's it.

Exactly. Makeup just enhances natural facial features. Too much, and a woman looks like a fucking clown.

    In short, I'm too lazy.

I don't bother with makeup when I'm going into uni, and I used to not bother with it when i was going out, but facebook has stopped that - I keep having pictures of me looking like i just got up, and everyone else who wears loads of makeup like normal people looking really nice being put up, so for those times, i've given up and now i'll do mascara, eyeshadow, and maybe eyeliner and lipstick. Don't know how to do blusher, but again, too lazy to bother with. I've put three pictures up here, and only one of them is with makeup.

When it comes to nails and gunk etc, thats what I do now. I find when I drink, my skin feels tighter, and the first time i used facescrub, it made my face feel like it was really clean, plus, i have some blemish stuff for under moisturiser at night that i think really makes a difference, so i use than when i think my face could do with a touchup, so although i don't do them every day, i use it enough to warrant buying. Especially when I'm doing last minute revision, or I have a big essay to work on, I have to have a shower, use a deep clean conditioner, pore cleaning lotion, face scrub, "shower face polish", then if its at night, then the blemish stuff and night moisturiser and hand moisturiser, otherwise just the day moisturiser. But thats because I get distracted easily, especially when stressed, and I have to procrastinate to stop myself getting stressed, so that relaxes me, and stops me being preoccupied by for example, having really greasy hair.

I get my haircut about three times a year, at a good salon for about £30, because I can never decide what I want, and it never seems right to pay that when it just needs a trim. I like to wear nailvarnish, and make my nails look pretty, but that stems from me being a tom boy and not being able to keep my nailslooking nice naturally - i smashed one between hockey sticks during training, so it swelled up and had a big white bit going through it, so to make it look nicer and stop picking at it, i used nailvarnish, and i keep stubbing my toes, so I paint those as well during summer.

Overall though, i wear makeup less than anyone i know, I take less care, and less regular care of how i look.

This is pretty typical for college girls, I think. It's only a certain type of girl that puts on make up for class. On the weekend, however, they come out with all the fixin's. Presumably, in order to aquire some cock. I don't know. I'm not a doctor.

You don't see it much in law school girls either...but there are a few who come out completely fucking smoking daily. It boggles the other girls minds - how does she have time for it?

Across the hall from me is this really imaged obsessed girl who goes to a private gym and is always tanning and done up daily. She slept with quite a few guys in this building first year I hear...

I also hear her grades reflect it.

I usually wear my hair long and straight, so I only go to the hairdresser once in a while. I use my various tongs, curlers, straighteners etc. to style my own hair.

I generally don't put on make-up to go to work, but will for a night out. It's nice to glam up occasionally, but everyday would just be a pain.

I've only had one manicure in my life. I would probably only go again if it was for a special occasion.

I primarily go to the beauty salon for a wax.

The important question here is how much time and effort do you ladies invest in grooming the vagina? The people have a right to know.

Hair: I cut my own, though I occasionally pay to have it colored if I want something funky. I don't own a blow dryer or any kind of product, but I do curl it sometimes. :)

Nails: I've never had a manicure and not much into nail polish. I'm with miniborg on the nail varnish just to keep 'em shiny without having to redo them every other day.

Face: I very rarely wear makeup.....unless you count chapstick. :D Usually if I do I'll have one of my girls who is good at it apply it for me. It's amazing what some of them can do, and it looks really pretty, but it makes me kind of uncomfortable....like I'm covered in goo. I have to make a conscious effort not to touch my face or rub my eyes.

Pussy grooming: Every day. Same with shaving legs/armpits and plucking eyebrows. For some reason, no makeup and fresh out of bed messy hair is cute, but I cannot stand stray hairs.

I was just thinking that same thing. Tanning, nails, waxing and highlights ... wow!

A good cut, highlights and conditioning plus tip runs me right around $100 and I am waaaaaaaaay too thrifty to do that every 3-4 weeks. I cant imagine adding tanning and nails to that.
