According to Paladin I've flamed him here in a rep comment: http://wordforge.net/showthread.php?p=1319345#post1319345 And earned a full warning for that rep. In no way could anyone with a straight face say that is flaming. They can't even say it is trolling. It's a member speaking out against a mod action. He say he only merged two threads which after looking back through is correct. So I was wrong. I thought he had merged a third thread in because the above quoted post came way after Tasvir threw a fit about him merging Tasvir's thread with the first thread. See what happens when you merge stuff? Causes all sorts of headaches. But even still that neg rep is not even close to being warning worthy and I would like it removed. Thanks
might be considered a flame. Since it essentially means "fuck you." If smilies in rep comments are not warning-worthy, then I must agree it seems petty and personal. As an aside, was Tasvir warned for his "idiot" remark?
I would hope we don't need a score card of what smilie is ok to use in a room. Plus I've never looked at it in that way because he's smiling. Don't know. No way to tell anymore in public who gets warned.
The point being that people have requested a warning utility over and over and nothing ever happens. Funny, last time I started a thread to contest a warning I got another warning for starting the thread...guess that was only a "Face-Rule". In any event, Paladin has told you that you cannot state your opinions about staff action through rep. The rule has been around for a long time, obviously. Keep your dissent to yourself and nobody will be the wiser---or get hurt.
Well it is night time. Let's give it a few more hours to see..... Ahhhhhhhh....sorry.....must'a been sleeping when they painted that rule on the barn door.
The comment was rude, but nothing worth a full warning. Are we gonna start warning for the use of certain smilies now?
I do. That's freaking crazy. That's the type of moderation that will lead to countless threads in the Help Desk and headaches for the staff.
It was trolling. Calling him JTK and giving him the finger is the equivalent of "fuck you fascist" and you know it. You obviously was getting a shot in and not protesting anything. Keep the crap in The Red and Gray Rooms. You have been here plenty long enough to know better.
No it wasn't trolling. Even he doesn't think it was trolling since it was a warning for flaming. As usual you don't know what the hell you are talking about. And if a mod takes an action and someone wants to rep them over it then it's too damn bad if you or him don't like that it is a neg rep. Deal with it. Plenty of neg reps have been handed to mods for their actions outside of the red and gray rooms and this is the first time there has been a warning attached to it. It would be one thing if it was a string of cursing but it wasn't. Would I have been automatically perma-banned if I dared call him Borgs? And explain how Chaos got a friendly for saying "Pyscho". Is that trolling? Flaming? No it is a mod who overstepped himself much in the same way JTK did with the thread mergers.
My points on the matter: 1. A middle finger is universal for "fuck you." The fingers are understood to be said in a friendly manner in certain contexts, however that was clearly not the case here. 2. I am not JTK and whatever problem RJHJ has with that person should not be transferred to me. 3. For what purpose did I receive this "fuck you?" Because I merged multiple threads on the same topic. If RJHJ was so wronged by this action, he had any of a number of options open to him, but went immediately to the "fuck you." I'm doing my job as I see it. If RJHJ has a problem with it, he should address it to the staff or he should start a thread in the Help Desk--obviously, he's quick to do that once his flaming has earned him a warning.
To be fair, merging those threads was a mistake, especially the Spock and poster Trek threads. Both were kicking along just fine, and when it comes to the Nathan Fillion threads, the second was moving along nicely even though everyone knew it was a "repeat." Merging should be limited to spam. Otherwise, we might as well just merge all the Star Trek threads that ever get started into a megathread, all the Firefly threads that ever get started into a megathread, etc., etc.
The merging of the threads is not at issue here. The issue here is RJHJ's warning. But as for the threads, 1. The Star Trek threads were essentially "Zachary Quinto (virtually) confirmed as Spock" and "Zachary Quinto confirmed as Spock." Tasvir's Star Trek poster (from the same con that announced Quinto as Spock) may make it somewhat arguable that the threads shouldn't be merged, but different mods will reach different conclusions on that. Either way, it's certainly not apprpriate to flame a mod for making that call. 2. The Fillion threads were about the same news item.
Careful now. Using that smiley will get you warned for flaming even if that was not your intent. Especially with thin skin man.
You're reading too much into a little graphic. If you are going to set this absurd standard then I expect you to keep track of every rep and every post which has a smiley in it. Lots of warnings are going to need handing out. And you better let everyone know which smiley's are flames and which aren't. Oh and you better give us a vocabulary list as well since calling you a psycho warrants a friendly warning. Of course it is interesting to see how certain people get treated under this new unwritten rule. One gets a friendly and one gets a warning. God forbid someone use against you. You're fucking head might melt. Your starting to turn into him. Anal-retentive mod. Once again you've got a thin skin. Plus you read a little too much into things. You better get a little thicker then that. Diacanu and Shepherd were able to handle it. If you can't then perhaps you should run and hide in Geek Forge. Ahhhh yes it would appear that through implication that old "you've no business posting in the help desk you're just a shit-stirring troll" argument rears its ugly head. Yes how dare posters question the action of a mod in public. Why don't they know that everything has to be kept under the rug?? Who the fuck do they think they are? I hope you're having fun painting new rules on the barn door when no one is looking. And I really hope you have fun warning posters left and right in media central because you've decided to have a thin skin and be anal about things. You damn psycho.
I'm just concerned that comparing a poster to another poster can become a flame? Take for example, these examples... "You're just like Elwood" "You're just like Async." "You're just like Uncle Albert" "You're just like Face" A compliment? An insult? Neither? I think we need to ask a question when creating these new moderator created rule creations: WWJTKD?
I should probably leave this alone, but....I thought the official mod/admin position was "We don't care about rep. Don't bother us about it." Is insulting one of them an exception to the rule?
Trolling and flaming in rep comments outside of the Red and Gray rooms are treated like posts and are warnable regardless of whom they are aimed at.
