I made an attempt a couple of years back and didn't get very far, and going to be really busy with work this November. Really do need to get back into writing though.
Isn't this the novel-writing thing? Anyone got a list of regulations? I feel like busting mad authoric-style moves this year.
Heck yes, fail at it every year. I have high hopes this year because I have an idea I'm actually excited about. I've been trying to start it for the past couple of months, but that would be cheating.
I am, and I'm already seething with ideas. Also, I keep telling my roommate I'm exicted about November 1st, and not saying why.
I was thinking of doing something different, a collection of short stories in a post apocalyptic world.
Sounds pretty good. Any ideas on a WF support system, maybe uploading and crtiqueing each other's entries afterwards?
Alas, I will not be doing NaNoWriMo this year. We'll be in Europe for two weeks in November and that kinda precludes having the time to take a shot at writing a novel in 30 days.
I may try this year. Got a business trip early in the month--will have plenty of free time in the evenings to get a jumpstart on it. Will probably fail miserably.
Lanzman: I would imagine you could write two novels just on the flight. That is, if your wife doesn't expect you to, you know, actually talk to her or something.
I signed up! This is the first time I've ever done anything like this. I hope I can reach the goal. It would be nice to finally write a novel that is complete. Here are my stats so far: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/242920 J.
I signed up, whether I'll have access to a computer long enough to do anything about it is a different story.
My novel is moving along faster than I expected! I thought it would take me a week or two to think of so many words, and there's actually a plot! J.
Well I'm a third of the way done for today, need to take a bit of a break though, my brain is getting a bit fried.
For this competition, how do they prove that someone wrote it during that month? I mean, couldn't you just write a novel in advance?
The real goal is the satisfaction. No certificate that I know of, but they do make a list of the self proclaimed winners. People could lie, but what would be the point?
I did this in the Fall of 2005. I was not doing anything else at the time (sort of recovering from surgery still). It didn't come out very well, but you can definitely see that I read a lot of Heinlein and Asimov.
I've slacked off the past two days as real life gets in the way. I'm hoping to recover several thousand words tonight. J.
I've never done that. ironically, with the election over, I'll be digging back into my novel, trying to chew through a good hunk of the story before I have my surgery in Dec. I'd like to have it decent shape — and maybe have proposals out in January.
