I've noticed it on three DVDs now, Transformers, The Reaping, And Spider-Man 3. The FBI warning that you see before the movie plays that says you can't copy and distribute this movie or you'll be fined up to 5 years in prison or heavily financially fined now includes the line, "including infringement without intentt of monetary gain" is now an offense the FBI will investigaste. It's appearing on all the new DVDs now. Ain't it amazing what you can do with a shitload of money that can hire an army of lawyers to change the law in your favor?
The question I have is this. Its us the American people who pay the federal taxes for the FBI. There are murders and all kinds of shit going on every day. Has the US suddenly become so crime free that the only crimes the FBI has to prosecute are music downloads or whatever? Or is there money changing hands between the music industry and the FBI? I think this is what needs to be investigated.
This thread sucks. MPAA != RIAA, and those FBI warnings have been on DVDs and video tapes for years. Though, until a few years ago, you've been able to skip passed them.
JUSTLEE is a bit slow no one should really blame him for just noticing what everyone else with an IQ above room temperature has noticed for years.
Ah, the good ol' FBI warning at the beginning of the tape. I remember about 20 years ago, when my family got the second VCR, my brother wanting me to copy some tapes for him. "What about the FBI warning?" I asked mockingly. He paused for a moment and said: "Copy that, too."
Nothing new here. This warning has been there for a long time. As for the difference between them, well, one protects movies, and the other protects music. But I suppose in terms of their tactics, they are similar, since they have been known to both try to sue ordinary people for downloading their copyrights.
It isn't really all that new. They used to put that one at the beginning of all of the videotapes too. When I used to copy videotapes I would leave that in just so it would look more authentic.
[action=NAHTMMM]doesn't seem to recall ever noticing the "including infringement without intent of monetary gain" bit . . . not that he ever paid much attention to all that text . . . ?[/action]
No, the FBI warning is not new, but what is new is that it is including downloadable material with intent to share without making any money as a federal offense it will investigate as a possible crime. But go ahead, ignore that part.
I've never noticed the part that says "including infringement without intentt of monetary gain" either. After all, that IS what this thread is about...
But you didn't say that, you just said: "including infringement without intentt of monetary gain" You lose.
