OK... I admit it... I liked Threshold. Even after I realized that the aliens were just The Borg without cybernetic implants. Suffice to saym the show was prematurely cancelled and BB has not been heard of since. His website, www.brannonbraga.com is gone and www.imdb.com list no current projects for him... Did he retire from Hollywood? Did he decide to work for a studio in a non-executive producer capacity or what? There is a nasty rumor circulating that he's working on 24 in S7. Do you care at all? I know he fucked up Trek beyond all recognitition, but he did give us some good episodes of TNG. When he teamed up with Ron Moore, they were the dynamic duo of sci-fi.
Let's face it. The man's whole resume consisted of killing a multimilliondollar cash machine franchise. Right now he'd be lucky to find work writing gay porn.
I'm hoping he's in that part of Dante's Inferno where they dunk you upside down up to your ankles in liquid pig shit, and then they light the soles of your feet on fire. Y'know, betcha VH-1 would make that into a show.
He's running a 7-11 in Edmond, Oklahoma from midnight to 5:00 AM. His manager is impressed with his Slurpee making abilities.
Helping to bring down one of the most popular TV franchises is not going to help him get more work. I was surprised he was given another series to work on considering the fuck-ups that were Voyager and Enterprise. Doubt we'll be seeing too much of him in the future.
Threshold the monstrously bad tv series, not Threshold the Voyager episode. Two equally bad, very different piles of shit.
I always thought it said something that Brannon Braga was naming his new TV show after what was the worst episode of Voyager, and, arguably, the worst episode of Star Trek in its entirety.
It doesn't seem that Rick Berman is working much either. Both thought of themselves a hell of a lot more than I think the majority of fans thought of them I think.
Interesting you say that, because Variety reports Braga is going to be producing a new daytim soap opera titled "Shades of Grey".
I wonder if that's actually his home page or if someone co-opted the name? There was a big flap in the Authors Guild some years ago advising writers to register their names as well as the titles of their best known works, even if they had no intention of starting a website, to keep squatters from pre-registering the names. May even have been some lawsuits, IIRC.
On a similar note, who's dick did Tyler Perry suck? House of Payne gets 3 hour marathons, downloadable episodes, it gets everything. Fuckin guy comes out of nowhere. Matt Groening is the fuckin Simpsons guy, can't keep Futurama on the air. WTH goes on??
Tyler Perry was extremely popular and profitable making movies and plays oriented to the black community, like "Diary of a Mad Black Woman." So a) he didn't come out of nowhere. And b) you're comparing apples to oranges. If he tried to strike a deal with any broadcast network, ESPECIALLY cancel-happy FOX, he wouldn't have gotten "House of Payne" past its first few eps. But from what I understand, it's doing well for TBS.
No, no, it's a conspiracy, an irrational loony conspiracy in my head, and you're supposed to play along.
IIRC, Braga comes from family money. Star Trek was probably just a hobby for him. Or maybe I'm confusing him with John Ordover...
Oooh... So if we kidnapped him, we could hold him for ransom? As I type this, I have a darkly humorous image of them videos al Qaeda sends out, only instead of AK-47 and machete wielding guys in ski masks and turbans(?) (those sheik hats) under a Moslem flag in a concrete room, I see Braga on his knees, surrounded by slightly overweight and/or scrawny pimply guys in homemade Star Trek/Klingon uniforms in their parents' basement (a concrete room ) under an array of Star Trek posters.
"No Brannon, we won't stop until you've watched Threshold, Sub-Rosa, A Night in Sickbay, TATV, and every other piece of crap you helped bring into this world. Otherwise you won't learn. And we want you to learn many things. Foremost of them is the definition of the word 'Valentine'. "
