Oh, and completely unrelated, you know how Burger King shifted their advertising focus with the slightly creepy, surreal The King ads a couple years ago? McDonalds should do that. Have a fake BK ad, with the King and part way through the ad, have the King keel over, revealing a psychotic-looking Ronald McDonald, holding a bloody knife. I still haven't worked out what the tagline would be yet. Possibly "You're lovin' it. Or we'll find you and kill you."

I don't think they have Carl's Jr. in Europe, so the Europeans are as yet safe from the deadly clutches of the Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger:

I've never liked Chick-Fil-A that much. I've found their food to be mediocre and over priced, even for fast food.

I will take a trip to In-N-Out any day over going to to McDonald's, Burger King, or Jack in the Box.

Anyone remember when they got rid of Jack for a while and blew him up in a commercial?

Really can't remember the last time I was in a McDonalds. I suspect it may have been the day daughter took her 11+, ie about 14 years ago. But then, they've never exactly been noted for their vegetarian choices...

Pret a Manger used to do a fantastic avocado, mozzarella and tomato sandwich on sun-dried tomato bread. But it's been off the menu for ages... :(

no chickafiller or whatabugger, but we do have Swiss Chalets sharing space with Harvey's. Helvetic Hovel is pretty decent rotisserie chicken and Harv's is comparable to Wendy's quality...

In-N-Out is still more of a CA thing. Although they have opened up in Las Vegas, and parts of AZ. They are simple. They make only burgers and fries. But, they do it right. No frozen meat, frozen fries, or etc. They are also privately owned by a Christian fundamentalist.

The McDonald's snobbery always amuses me. Everyone says they hate it, yet the chain does billions in sales every year. Either a whole lot of y'all are lying or else there's a few reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally hungry people out there.

Even the 'healthy' choices at Mickey D's are loaded with calories.

I can get more bang for my buck somewhere else.

Yeah. If you'll notice, even the salads can go up to 500 calories (and the dressings can add almost 200 more).
Throw in a regular coke and you might as well have ordered a big mac. :yuck:

I wouldn't eat McDonald's that often, but I find I enjoy it if it's been awhile. Not including their breakfast stuff. McDonald's also doesn't leave me with that "I just sucked down a bucket of grease" feeling like Burger King and some others do.

Fast food isn't that cheap nowadays for what you get. If you get the a large size combo, it can run $6.50 or so, depending on what you order. Some of the specials can be closer to $7.00. For the same price minus the drink, you can get a burger out from a place like Tony Roma's.

For fast food, there tends to be a spud-u-like just as close as a macdonalds I've found. Probably not in central london, as I've only seen them in shopping centres so far. The plastic knives and forks, and luminous surroundings are a bit depressing, but the cheap potatoes, and garlic bread, are delicious.

Potato with cheese and beans, 2 slices garlic bread, and a drink for £2.50/£3.00 ish.

Superior to Macdonalds in every way.

McDonalds is usually my last resort... BUT, the Southern Style Chicken is actually fantastic. With the cost of gas, as long as that stays on the menu and the quality remains high, McDonalds will get my business as long as it's closer than In-n-Out unless I want In-n-Out specifically.

I'll still drive miles to avoid a Burger King though.

Why do you want to avoid Burger King?

Fortunately I have an In-N-Out a mile away from the house. I love their double, double animal style. :D

McDonald's always makes me think of that scene from the movie Dutch. The one where the kid is in the greasy spoon and he asks the waitress, "what do you have that won't make me vomit".

But when you want lots of fast food cheap, there's really only one place:

    TACO BELL!!!

Three crunchy taco supremes and a large drink for around $3.50.

:garamet: I've always wanted to go to In-N-Out for that very burger, but there was never one where we stopped on our way through Cali. I was so disappointed. :(

Although they do have Jack-in-Box up here which is something new and exciting! :D

Taco Bell is okay. But, honestly, I miss some of the things they used to have on their menus back in the day when they had the 59, 69 and 79 cent menus.

The lottery is a tax on suckers who don't understand statistics.
