That magic only works on witches. Hybrids are immune. I would think that you would know this better than most.
Point of information: How do you parse refusing to engage in negotiations with N. Korea unless S. Korea, China, and Japan are involved with being "unilateral"?
So tell me, do lefties in Europe also bus in bums to political events when they need big numbers and press?
Darkening just so you know yes there are pics of McCain meeting with troops but all those pictures are taken by military photographers. When Bush visits the troops all pictures are taken by military photographers. If Obama had visited there would be pictures and they would have been taken by military photographers. Fact is that Obama and his campaign wanted to use meeting wounded troops as a campaign event. Instead of meeting with them he went to a hotel gym. So I ask you, what was more important to Obama? The actual troops or the campaign coverage he was hoping to generate? I think we know the answer and it speaks volumes about Obama. hmmmmmmmmm........... I just realized that your rep might mean something different from what I first read it as. Oh well I'm not changing my post.
[yt="Yes, it just might be..."]tTjKWq9Gges[/yt] P.S. I'd forgotten that I was, at one time, rather favorably inclined toward that particular composition. :rave:
Sounds like he could have made it if he wanted to. "Aww Solider, crossing your fingers for a Hillary nomination. I know how you feel. Now look what we're stuck with!"
Maybe he didn't trust the military photographers to provide balanced coverage, so he erred on the side of caution and backed out. How often do McCain or Bush swing by to visit wounded troops unannounced? How often did Clinton or Bush Sr.? Does that speak volumes about them as well?
The Pentagon did not forbid him to go. All they said was it had to be Obama with 2 or 3 Senate Staff and no campaign staff and no media. All photos would be taken by the military photographers. It is a lie by anyone to say the military turned him down and it is also a even bigger lie to say McCain had a hand in this and squashed the visit. Obama turned the meeting down.
Didn't Bush go to Iraq unannounced for Thanksgiving a year or two ago? Accuse him of anything else, but support the troops he has. Obama had the chance to go visit the troops. The fact that opted out because it wouldn't help his campaign speaks volumes about what he really cares about.
I remember that. It was a PR stunt. The giant turkey on a platter he was holding in pictures was actually a prop. He was using the troops for his own purposes, just like Obama probably would have been.
So? He still went. Without telling anyone about it. And I know for a fact that the troops appreciated it because I had relatives in Iraq at that time, and they gushed about it.
The defenses some of you will try and play to protect Obama are hilarious. It's also pathetic. First I don't think the military would do that. Obama would speak up and it would make the military look bad. Second they want to release the best photos to the public becasue of the troops that will be in the photos. You really think they will go out of there way to stupidly slam a politician and end up making the solider in the photo look bad too? Nothing wrong with publishing the fact that you are going to visit the troops. In fact for all those men you mentioned especially the THREE PRESIDENTS it would be impossible for them to go unannounced. Look at the effort it took just to get Bush to Iraq that one Thanksgiving without anyone knowing. What would be wrong is if the men you mentioned turned down the visit after being informed they couldn't bring campaign staff and media.
He didn't tell anyone beforehand because doing so would have made him a target for every insurgent in the country. It wasn't revealed he'd been there until he was already safely out of Iraq. (They do the same thing now when Cheney or Rice visits.) That's why I complained about McCain spilling the beans about Obama, because I remember the huge cloud of secrecy surrounding Bushs visit. That they appreciated it doesn't mean they weren't being used.
So it's only acceptable to whine about "bias" when it's the evil liberal bias against McCain? And I haven't been speaking completely in favour of Obama in this thread, in case you hadn't noticed.
Of course it was a political stunt, he is a politician afterall. But he STILL went. Which is more than you can say for Obama.
There is no bias. Obama had a chance to go to Ramstein Air Base to meet injured soldiers, and when the Pentagon told him to leave the media and his campaign staff behind, he decided not to go. Why? For what reason wouldn't he go? Because McCain calls in some favors and gets someone from the Pentagon to screw up the trip? Thats a reach, big time.
Bush knew his photographers would play ball with him. Obama didn't get to bring his own photographers, so he didn't walk into a situation where he wasn't in control of his image. Considering everything about him in the media, can you really blame him?
Kirk, grownups are talking. Go wait in the car. Oh, come on, Zombie. The rest of us are talking, he's just trying to be make clever digs at the other side.
uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Earth to fucking idiot Bobcat............. No one said he's never visited troops. We are only talking about him visiting wounded troops in Germany and then backing out after he was not allowed to use campaign staff and the media.
Nah, that's just his typical, never ending spin. Funny he claims to be "conservative" yet seems to have no limits in his defense and rationalization for Obamessiah.
