This is Microsoft's new commercial. First off, it's not very original. Secondly, I find something hilarious about it, at :47 is the band N.E.R.D. and the lead singer Pharrell Williams says, "Yeah, uh, I'm a PC." Here's the funny part, they recorded at a studio that uses Mac Pro's with Final Cut Pro.

I couldn't stop laughing after seeing the commercial.

I liked it because it's true. Not all PC users are nerds.
As much as I like Apple, I don't like the elitism the commercials try to convey. This one strikes back saying that Apple is wrong to assume that just because one uses a PC, you're a nerd.

Microsoft's design studio also uses Macs, and the MacBU has a whole lab full of 'em. They have the good sense to not force designers to use a tool they are not familiar with. Better productivity that way. Not an acknowledgement of superiority. Sorry to burst that bubble.

By the way, anyone else with the iPhone 2.1 software have real difficulty tapping out 'MacBU'? I have to enter 'MacBIU', then delete out the 'I'. When I slide my finger over the 'UIO' keys, the input keyboard skips right over the 'U' in that context. Is it just mine, or are there some immature programmers at Apple?

I liked that commercial a lot. Kamel I think you're in the minority here, I thought it was a brilliant strike back at Mac. And it has people talking about it too, that is very effective marketing. I also like the Seinfeld commercials. They're doing a good job.

It was a good commercial, especially the very first bit of it where they highlight the ridiculous typecasting of the PC user as a fat nerd in an ill-fitting suit with glasses.

Oh, PS: the fat nerdy "PC" actor actually used a mac since before the commercials. He's also a talented comedian so I'm sure he could've done well as the "Mac" guy, but for certain physical reasons he was instead cast as the "PC".

And the "mac" actor has admitted that he pretty much never uses ANY computer, despite being given free machines by Apple. Quote: "...I know nothing about computers....its insane, its crazy to realize how passionate people are on either the PC or the mac, I don't really care."

Whoa. Just tried it in Notes. Yeah, it types I instead of U, but you can just delete the I and the U works the second time; you don't need to type and delete "IU". It does skip the U when I slide Y-U-I. Bizarre. Does it only happen with the word "MacBU"?

Not just MacBU. Also MazBU, MaxBU, MavBU, and MamBU, but not MabBU or ManBU. Random testing indicates no keys on the home and top row for the third letter trigger the bug. Sliding YUIOP, both the U and O are skipped, but if you touch the O, it still works. This has got to be the 2nd most bizarre bug I've ever encountered, the first being the entirety of Microsoft Outlook.

Apple's usually brilliant at advertising but their "I'm a Mac" campaign really devolved into the wrong message, basically culminating in "Macs are for arrogant hipsters."

Well, arrogant yuppies are the prime advertising target for Mac these days.

Read some the crap spewed by DHH and you will quickly begin to understand the mentality that many (read: not all) Mac users have.

With the prefix of MacB, I can slide my finger along the top row and hit QETYIO. This leaves WRUP, and I don't think that's an anagram of any sort. Weird.

Most people do choose products by commercials.

Look at all those horrible body spray products. They smell rancid and yet people buy them because of the advertising.

I saw this commercial for the first time last night. I thought it was the standard Apple PC vs Mac commercial and was getting ready to ignore it.

It was a brilliant commercial. for Microsoft getting it right once.

I really really really hate the Apple commercials. Apple, if you wanted to convince me to switch to a Mac using those commercials is the wrong way to go about it.

Oh and I've never had the BSOD on my PC. EVER.

I'd love a Mac...or many other Apple products...if I could fucking afford them.

But just when it looks like I may be able too, Steve Jobs puts out something new at twice the price.
