Ok wasn't sure where to put this so if it needs to be moved, go ahead. My co-worker was locking our side doors for tonight and found a lizard in the hallway. It looked kind of like a gecko but it was a light orange with tiny black stripes on its body and wider black stripes on its tail. From nose to tail-tip it was probably no more than 2.5 to 3 inches long. Now I've done some looking to see if I could find it on the interwebs but I've had no luck. Anybody have any idea?

We have oodles of green anoles around here. While green is their default color, they change their background to blend in to different vegetation+ rocks sometimes.
These little buggers are cute and entertaining.

I would try looking up what reptiles are found in your state. That might help.

Well there's a few things that would be helpful to know in order to determine what it is:

    1. What state do you live in and what part of said state?

    2. How big was the animal?

    3. Are you hot?

Actually Anoles change their colors depending more on their moods and how they are feeling. An Anole that is brown in color is usually that color because being uncomfortable, or fearful of something, cold, or etc.

Basically. When I was in junior high school I had a couple of anoles. It was interesting watching them change colors at different times of the year and such. They tended to be the most green at night when they were sort of basking on their heat stones under the UV light.
