I wonder, long after Obama's term in office is over, do you think he will ever have his picture on US Currency.
Well, if he's elected Obama will largely be de facto President on November 5. No foreign power will continue negotiating with Bush unless Obama's there too and gives his approval. Congress won't be passing any more legislation at Bush's behest if Obama objects to it. Any vacancies requiring nomination and confirmation will be held over until Obama's sworn in. Except for a passel of new administrative rules and a mess of pardons--big exceptions, to be sure--Bush will be the lamest lame duck ever.
Aurora--I know, I know. I was kind of hoping JohnM would realize that Obama will largely take power 2.5 months earlier than he technically assumes office and that that would make JohnM throw up a little.
Obama vs. Dead presidents? < Washington < Adams < Jefferson < Madison < Monroe < Adams < Jackson < van Buren < Harrison ~ Tyler > Polk, probably > Taylor ~ Fillmore < Pierce > Buchanan ~ Lincoln (but I have a very low opinion of Lincoln) > Johnson < Grant > Hayes > Garfield < Arthur < Cleveland ~ Harisson < Cleveland ~ McKinley ~ Roosevelt ~ Taft ~ Wilson ~ Harding (< but for the corruption) < Coolidge (but by surprisingly little) = Hoover = Roosevelt < Truman < Eisenhower < Kennedy ~ Johnson > Nixon > Ford < Reagan
