Team Fortress 2. The artwork and the graphics choices were designed to enhance playability, not to "look real" or just be ultra advanced (although in reality, the TF2 graphics are pretty sophisticated). The things that are important to me when it comes to graphics: 1. Playability - do the visuals improve gameplay? Or do they sacrifice gameplay in the name of "more realism"? 2. Immersion - do the visuals draw the player into the game? Does the visual style fit with the gameplay? "Fantastic", "cartoony" or "fake" art styles generally draw a player in better than realistic styles when the gameplay is not realistic. For example, games with magic or superhuman abilities do not lend themselves well to "realistic" art styles. On the other hand, certain games do have gameplay in which realism makes sense (like Total War or Call of Duty series).
I think that's just your personal taste, I think games with magic or superhuman abilities look awesome with realistic graphics. Example:
