Seems to me like there's been a lot of war-style games coming out the past few years; or at least, the titles sound that way to me. Is this so, and are they really that much different in gameplay etc. from each other? The trailers I've seen on TV all look about the same to me.

Good point. I should have thought to clarify that I'm thinking specifically of "first-person shoot-em-up" games (think Halo) rather than the "Risk" variety, where you move units around a map rather than controlling the fighting of individual units in battles or whatever.

I got a Call of Duty sequel with my new video card. Looks pretty impressive on some other machines, but I haven't installed it yet.

If they didn't offer something different no one would be playing it. :)

They all look pretty much the same on the surface, and that is just a sign that the different developers are remaining competitive with graphics.

Take Halo 3, COD4, and Battlefield: Bad Company. The graphics are damn good in all three of the games, and each has a significantly different style of gameplay.

I've had Call of Duty: World at War since January and never gave it a second thought... It was something my son was more into...

Well one day I got a little bored and I have to say that I'm hooked now. It's like you're really this "Pvt. Miller" fighting first in the South pacific against the Japaneese, and later in France and Germany against the Nazis. There are actual dates and places that leads me to believe that someone did their homework in constructing this game. I'm very impressed. I never thought I'd get so much out of a video game.

Got it for Christmas and havent had the chance to play it. My 9 year old saw it and went nuts. Apparently he's been playing it at his sisters boy friends house and wanted to play it here. Apparently he loves it. When I asked the Reese Witherspoon clone why the hell she let a 9 year old play it when she knew that I wouldnt allow it I got a typical..."I didnt think it was that bad" :garamet:

So I played it with him. Im so out of my game its not even funny. Plus I have to get the hang of this Wii thing.
