The only way Lanz will be able to tell whether, it is indeed, various posters from TK, and not just dogbert duals, would be to ask missmanners for the IP addresses of those who claim to be unjustly banned, then compare them with the IP addresses of those who were just banned here.

Even then, having duals for the SOLE-PURPOSE of rep warring isn't allowed anyways. They would have to make more contributions than just the typical "Wow!" or "I never knew that" posts to be considered "real" posters and not just dual rep warriors.

But if they weren't duals how could they be rep duals?

I don't believe there is any rule that says a person has to contribute in order to be able to rep. In fact quite a few posters pretty much confine their 'contributions' to rep, and many have fought hard to preserve that 'right.'

Well, for one, dogbert has been here before. Both as dogbert and as faith_in_george. So any other username he signs up with would be considered a dual.

I can't speak for the others however. If this is their first account here, then they should be let back in.

His last post was 4 days ago (when he was banned) and then had a bunch of posts that were 6 days ago. Rep isn't his "sole" contribution as you claim. Perhaps you should have said "he uses rep more than posts now". Otherwise, people think you're being intellectually dishonest.

If you make a claim, it's up to you to prove it. So either none exists, and you are lying, or you're too lazy to use the search function.

Have people defended being able to rep? Yes. Have people defended the ability to rep war? Yes.

But no one has defended the ability to have their sole contribution be repping others, as you so claimed in post #62. You should either learn to word your posts more accurately or if you're going to make unfounded claims, at least have the posts to back it up.

My less-than-50 post count would appear to invalidate those suspicions, wouldn't it? I'm not on a proxy, as any admin who checks will see that I'm in Irvine, California. Wouldn't a rep dual at least attempt to be geographically accurate?

Let me play devil's advocate for a bit:

They weren't duals. They were all individual, different accounts.

Should they have been banned? Let's look at what we do know:

1) They all had exactly 50 posts.
2) They made 50 bogus posts over a short period and then stopped, all coincidentally on that number
3) Although they sure don't post much, they did rep a lot. They all repped the other accounts to the point where, based solely on their own rep, some had two green pips - or over 100 rep points.
4) The rep wanking occurred after the fifty posts were made.
5) This means that as soon as they stopped posting they spent at least two days repping each other individual poster - up to six days, or more depending.

It's pretty clear what's going on here. They all made the rep minimum 50 posts and began rep wanking each other. Why? Well who knows. To neg rep Sokar one day in anger? Perhaps. To contribute to this board? Unlikely.

And since their 50 posts were all pointless, and the remainder of their activity was reping and rep warring one thing is clear - they were only here to troll. As you know, rep warring is a form of trolling and I would cite to Faceman v. Everyone as my precedent.

These facts, coupled with this rule:

would suggest that banning these folks was the only appropriate action.
