I don't think I have seen the post in question, but I was wondering....did you connect the info to Jamey in any way? If you just randomly mentioned say, "Jamey" (or whatever it was), without anything to associate it with said poster, then yeah I could see how that could be iffy.

But if you linked it to him somehow (by either reference, quote, responding to him directly etc), then that I think would be different, and thus probably fall under the usual personal info region.

I tried staying over there after the last dustup, but god-DAMN. There's forums there that have 3 month old posts on the first page. And I don't mean like a post or two--like 40% of the forum is months and months old.

As far as the rep war thing, it's been awhile since I read the rules, but I was pretty sure there was a clause that you couldn't create a dual to use in rep wars. And if there wasn't an actual rule, common law was that you couldn't create a character that makes no useful contribution to the board and was created solely to cause trouble. I would submit that creating a poster and posting just enough to be able to rep is creating a poster that contributes nothing to the board.

I wonder what happened and when. It seems like it happened around the time that John Edwards flushed any chance of ever holding any office above Chicago dogcatcher right down the toilet.

If someone wants to jump through that loophole, there's technically nothing wrong with creating an account and repping yourself in rep war In that instance, once everyone finds out that it's a dual (and whose), the board can pretty much solve that problem without the staff interfering.

I was responding to one of Jamey’s posts. He was doing that snotty “I can call you by your RL name and pretend I know you and there’s nothing you can do about it” number, and I replied with a partial first name from a source that anyone can find if they Google his former username.
