MSNBC is now saying she is stepping down in a matter of weeks, without finishing out her current term as governor.
I hope the vile, scum sucking leftists who've been obsessed with her ever since she was announced as McCain's running mate haven't chased her away from politics for good.
FOX confirms she's resigning and has Todd Palin saying: she doing this to do things for Alaska and the country that she's passionate about and can't do as governor.
I don't care how many times you've been dragged through the mud, stepping down without completing your term looks bad. Unless there is something wrong with the family, this is a bad move.
She does have a special needs kid and a teenage mother to care for, in addition to the rest of her large family.
Announcing this the day before a holiday weekend? I wonder what's going to come out next week. Either way, you nincomepoops want as a nominee someone who can't even handle a full term as governor of a state with the smallest population in the Union yet you think she can handle being President of the United States?
Agreed. It looks bad when you can't fulfill your commitments to your state. If she announces she's running for President, I would trust her even less. She steps down from her state Governorship and now she wants to be President? No way, and I don't care what side of the aisle she's on. Of course, if it is just something family related I hope everything's okay. J.
If she was stepping down for them, then I'm OK with it, but still, you should know when you run for office these situations will come up, that's one of the things you risk when running for office. That being said, if she did this to run for President, I think it's crap. She made a commitment to the voters who elected her.
On FOX her brother says that her staying on as governor was hurting the state, she was having to spend almost all of her time defending herself from the baseless ethics complaints that the crazies were filing against her.
Fucking grow a pair Francis. If Palin can't hack it as governor of Alaska she can't hack it anywhere.
The GOP's best possible idea just got done destroying his political career with Argentina love tales.
Let's assume she does have plans to run for president. If she stays in office she'll have basically the same qualifications in 2012 as she does now, which are moderate at best. On the other hand, if she leaves office early, takes time to travel around the county--and to other countries for the first time--she could grow stronger in her political repertoire. Traveling around the country, she could also ferment a serious conservative movement for 2012 where others in the GOP have failed. Giving herself the extra time, she could comeback in 2012 as a much stronger candidate. It's a gamble, but all things in politics are.
I'm sorry, but that's part of the job. I guarantee you Obama gets hate mail out the ass, and I'm certain George W. Bush did, too. It comes with the territory. If she can't handle that on the Governorship level, she doesn't have a prayer on the Presidential playing field. J.
So all the crap she's had to deal with, like crazy "Bristol is Trig's real mother!!!" conspiracy theories from supposedly respected journalists, rape jokes about her underage children and ethics complaints filed by people who explicitly said that they were doing so to bankrupt and tarnish her, was all just part of her job description?
Having to spend 80% of your time dealing with silly shit like that instead of doing actual governing is just part of the job? Hate mail and ethics complaints that cause you to rack up a massive legal bill to defend yourself are two very different animals.
She should spend more time dealing with governance. She's not a press liason, and she's not a secretary. She'll have to learn how to multitask. That's something she'll have to handle. Look at President Clinton. He was in court and being prosecuted, and still he didn't step down. She's going to have to toughen up if she wants the job. J.
So she was just having to spend so much time dealing with the ethics complaints because she didn't know how to multitask? Slick Willie? He actually did pretty much everything he got into legal trouble for (and I also wouldn't really call the operation of the Fed Govt smooth during his scandal ridden last years in his office), ALL of the complaints against Palin were dismissed.
No, she needs to learn how to multitask better than she is. If she can't handle her personal and political life clashign together, then she wouldn't be any good as President. She's in the minor leagues right now. She goes to the majors and this happens, they'd wipe her off the map. Doesn't matter. He stayed in office, and didn't step down. Even with incredible pressures from all sides. She'll have to do that too. J.
It would be practically impossible for a Governor of Alaska to run for President, because of the time and distance involved. In my opinion, if Sarah Palin is interested in becoming President, this is what she should do: She should run for another term as Governor, in 2010; and run for the U.S. Senate held by Democrat Mark Begich, in 2014. Palin would be set up to run for the Presidency in 2016 or 2020. She would be 52 years old in 2016. Alaska has a Senate seat up for re-election in 2010, but that seat is held by Republican Lisa Murkowski. I realize that Sarah Palin is a hot news item right now, but I think that she would be well served by showing a little patience and maturity in her decision making.
