    Actually, in performance tests and benchmarks, Windows 7 excels, beating the shit out of Vista on almost every level. Windows 7 also performed admirably on old hardware (I tested it on a 10 year old desktop [533mhz celeron/128mb RAM], it ran great). I have used the Beta and the RC1 and they were both polished and ready to go. It is a solid step up from Windows XP.
