    We have many different large fire-fighting planes that are amphibious like the Beriev Be-42. Though I don't think we have any with jet engines. Seems prop engines are better suited to making slow passes over lakes, scooping up thousands of gallons of water, and flying at low altitudes while dumping the water.

    The Be-42, while used to fight fires, is not specifically designed for the one task.
