As inane as the OP is, one does have to wonder why yet another nation-wide national emergency is necessary, given that we're still operating under the 9/11 national emergency.

I really don't think that the American mind is so far gone as to swallow the disappearance of political dissidents during an influenza emergency without choking.

( Oooh, that was something of a mixed metaphor, wasn't it. :naht: )

I doubt any kind of martial law would ever come about.

What would not surprise me is the federal govt. being very selective about who does and does not get flu vaccine.

Yes - Obama renewed it for another year in September; I started a thread about it.

Orange, like it has been for at least a year now.

If Obama is the anti-christ, should't the christian types be happy that judgment day is almost here?

We don't even display it anymore at the Fort Gordon gates - all we show is the time and the current temperature.

I like the Lewis Black levels, that include "holy shit" and "we're fucked!" :salute:

Meh, just cough, sneeze, and pop 2 ibuprofen while opening up a pack of Theraflu when they come for you. They'll leave you alone if they think you've got it already, I imagine.

I wonder about this H1N1. I don't know anyone who has it. Does anyone here know anyone who has it? If its a wide spread pandemic then I don't see it. This is nothing but a power grab.

I think it's likely somewhat overblown. Around here, they're not testing people anymore, they're just assuming that everyone who gets aches, chills, and a cough has it and reporting it as such.

It's making it's rounds here in Georgia. My sons good friend had it.
Some soldiers + dependents here on Fort Gordon have it.

The next county over had a bunch of grade-schoolers with it.

My two cousins have it. They're both children and they've been confirmed as having H1N1. They're not sure whether their mother has it, but she's being tested.

As for us, we went to my niece's birthday "party" at a Chuck-E-Cheese (I love my little niece but I did not want to go to this "party"), and half the kids were sick with seasonal flu, so I knew shit was going to go down. Sure enough, my mom and dad are both down with the seasonal flu, and I'm working to get them healthy again. As for myself, I'm drinking Emergen-C Immunity, and it's working so far. So yeah, there you go.

I hope I don't get it. There was a company E-mail the went corporate wide. Anyone with Flu symptoms gets sent home for 3 days and then if flu is confirmed another week off and then must be certified flu free to return to work. Not a bad idea but will have the opposite affect. The idiots at corporate are all salary and won't miss a dime should they get sick, but hourly folks will be out 3 days pay or more so they will tough it out and come to work. 3 days, depending on the days can mean a week's pay to 12 hour rotating shift folks, which most hourly folks are at my mill. We don't get any sick days and it is against company policy to take vacation pay on days out sick. It just irks us to see emails come out from people who don't have a clue. One day of work or more consecutively missed for sickness is counted as one "occurance", 3 occurances in 6 months and you are terminated.
