28 mins in and it blows! HARD!

God! It's V for Victory! Not V for Visitors you dumb asses!

Stop calling them "The Vs" ! It sounds fucking stupid!

One of the great things about the miniseries was that it paralleled the whole 'Nazi Germany' thing.

    Ugh.

    It blows.

It's sad when a 21st century show can't live up to a 1984 tv miniseries.

32 mins in and I bet anything the black guy with the ringing phone is a visitor.

Thank god there will only be 4 episodes.

A remake of a bad series to begin with.

    What did you expect?

The first miniseries was pretty good. It went downhill after that.

Someone should tell The V's that The UK and Canada already have universal healthcare.
All those sleeper agents and noone saw Micheal Moore's Sicko ?

    I agree. That blew chunks.

It's like the actors were sleepwalking through the whole episode.

Hope, change, and universal health care?

It's still paralleling Nazi Germany. :bergman:

It was alright. It's obviously trying to channel BSG to almost a hilarious extreme. The issue is that it's, so far, predictable:

I cringed whenever I saw the teenage kid, too. Hopefully he will be dispatched shortly.

Also, the blonde studio page - hot.

One more thing, and it was something that rarely struck me with BSG. I think they do a far better job here of making the villain subtly creepy. For example, just before Anna's interview with the anchorman, they had a wonderful sort of skewed shot of her smiling that almost called to mind the Joker from Batman or other trickster myth.

I'll tune in next week. I've certainly seen far worse sci-fi fare.

I thought it was just ok...but I think it's a big error to rush the plot like so much. Even though we all knew who the Aliens really are (if we are aware of the original series) revealing scales in the very first hour was way underwhelming. She should have left that meeting thinking they were all stone cold nutters. We shouldn't know about Wash and the black guy yet.

So pacing was a big issue with me. also, I thought the direction vered b etween clever shots and outright lameness. the best example - Anna striking a runway model pose in front of a window is the big dramatic coda at the end of the hour? Why? what purpose did that shot serve (other than to potentially induce boners i mean)?

The part where the resistance guy is just spelling out the entire series plot in one dialog is just horrific.
"So there's these aliens, they're green lizards, they want our water, and they want to eat us! C'mon did noone see the first movie!"

And really, the water plot line again? In the 21st century? Can we not evolve just a little bit?

I refuse to see this as a V remake, clearly it's a continuation of John Carpenter's "They Live!"
    - "I'm here to kick TheV's ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of bubblegum."

    I give it a 6.5/10.

Not fantastic, but better than most of the garbage on network television.

Oh, then it worked. Morena is hott.

The pilot was alright. Not great, but enough to get me to tune in next week.

I didn't like the BSG pilot much either, and I stuck with it. I'm glad I did.

It was ok, I mean it's V for the ADD generation. The original mini-series did a much better job of showing the slow progression of fascism.

I did like the aspect of the visitors already being here and causing trouble behind the scenes. That way they can come in and be the saviors of mankind. I like the original motherships better though, they were Independence Day before there was an Independence Day.

    I've seen about a quarter of nuV/V 2.0.

    See the rest later.

Anna {nuDiana} pulled a Woody Allen's mother from "NY Stories" at the beginning.

Last part I saw FBI Girl & partner were out in Long Island.

The last 3 days SyFy was reshowing all of V TOS; V 1983, V:TFB 1984 {including crap ending with Magic Girl} & the Fall '84/Spring '85 Friday night lulz TV series.

    Who's hotter:

    Anna {Diana 2.0} or Diana?

    I can't decide.

Haven't watched it, but it sounds like it's fast-paced, plot-wise. To me, that's OK. I mean look at how much ground Stargate SG-1 covered in the first two episodes, or Firefly in one, or... there's another one that comes to mind, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. If they've got the material, or at least the potential, moving quickly is not a problem. A lot of shows these days move positively glacially, sometimes to good effect, sometimes not, and sometimes both within a show (BSG, for instance - 33 vs all of season 3).

The water/mineral thing and the eat humans thing is stupid and they shouldn't do either. (although they haven't mentioned eating people yet)

I'm sure the stupid lizards can live off of chicken and cow.

It should be a straight up conquering and enslave humans thing.

Couldn't the head human lady been someone else other then a FBI agent?

And no one has yet to ask why they are "human"? Really the lizards would have been better off stealing from Star Trek and making forehead stuff. ;)

It's a damn shame though that the little resistance group got wiped out so fast. All thanks to the FBI lady.

I read this thread before I saw the episode. Seeing you shit your pants in disgust over it made me appreciate it a thousand times more than I would have otherwise.

This show distresses you, and I find that good.
