Before my mind became posioned with access to the world wide web, I used to be a very aggressive Novel Reader. Every author from Linda Lay Shuler, to Sue Miller to Frank Persario were all fair game. Now that I have this screen in front of me, I hardly read anywhere near as much as I used to. Has the age of the Computer affected you as well?
I still read books...usually when I go to bed I slip on a headlight and read until I can't stay awake anymore. I read in the bathroom, in the car when it isn't moving and during power outages. Between the internet and books I spend a good portion of my life reading.
The internet hasn't affected my reading time at all. If anything, it's affected my television and video game time.
It has absolutely reduced the amount of book reading that I do. I make it through maybe a dozen books a year, if that.
No, I still read a lot. The trick is to realize that YOU are in charge of your life and time. Make the choice to turn off the damn computer and pick up a book.
I read more now, mainly because I find something interesting and get a book on it or read about some book and get it. Although I rarely pay attention to most shows now. There are only a few shows where I stop everything I'm doing and watch it.
I have an hour and half commute to school in the mornings so I do a lot of my reading, er, books on tape, while driving... It's books on the way to, Lady Gaga on the way back.
Yes, it has seriously affected my reading time. I used to be a voracious novel reader. Now I read one or two a year at best. I can't help it. I'm naturally curious and the internet is an endless stream of thoughts and opinions, as well as information, entertainment and new ideas. J.
Not at all. I've always preferred non-fiction (as a child, I used to read encyclopedias cover to cover consistently) and periodicals, now I've just switched media but kept the same genre. I'm not adverse to fiction, it's just that most of it is rubbish.
Yes! definitely! I get to work about 1/2 hour early. I used to read a book or magazine while I ate breakfast and waited for my start time. Now I'm online instead. I still read a chapter of a novel during lunch, though, and a magazine article before bed.
