I just reopened the game a bit. England is obviously in the hands of a megalomaniac as Austria predicted! Emperor Faisent has survived several assassination attempts over the last two months and has cracked down on the press as well as blockading the Mediterranean Sea in order to finance his war efforts. Nobody knows just how far this mad man will try to reach!

So what I'm really curious of is if I just managed to preemptively stab Russia; I was worried that something like this might happen - and poor Spider just got the shaft with Turkey! France, I wish you'd just let me do it when I asked you for your blessing, but as you didn't I had to look to the Atlantic. Definitely going to be an interesting few years now, but it obviously looks like it was lining up to be a Russo/Austro/Italian alliance with a soon to be ex-Turkey. I'll give you continental powers a chance to shake things out as you wish - I expect there only to be 5 of us in two years unless something crazy happens.

Sorry for my lack of attention to this thread, again.

    Current Map:

    1905, Reinforce

    View attachment 5027

    Analysis:

England has a solid lead with 12 units, followed by a modest 7 for Italy.

Turkey has finally been cracked and can be expected to fall entirely by next year.

Italy, which was hard pressed and hanging on the ropes a few moves ago, is now and following the stab of France by England much healthier. The Mediterranean is completely locked up both ways - there is no reasonable way for either Italy to get out, or England to get in. Depending on mood, he can choose to stand together with France, or push to eliminate him in concert with Britain.

While England is obviously in the driver's seat, converting his current lead to an outright win will be quite tough. He has to push to capture Saint Petersburg - failing to do so could cost him dearly in the long run. In the center, he has a quite good position, but is in danger of getting outnumbered as time passes and Austria manages to reposition its armies. All in all, it looks as if it would be quite a feat if he grabs the win without convincing at least one other power to help him.

Russia is healthy, and not much more. His position is apt to crumble without foreign assistance, but it looks likely such is coming.

Austria, who couldn't really afford to fight both Russia and Turkey and looked fried just a few turns ago, can finally catch a breather.

    Oh, and...

PLEASE PLEASE lock your orders!! It's a bloody reinforce, that shouldn't take 3 whole days!

    Help? Megalomaniacs don't require help!

I'm just doing the world a favor anyway - no way Hitler comes about after Germany was completely in British hands after 1905 and we slaughtered every man-child with the first name "Adolf".

Oh wait...Hitler was Austrian, wasn't he? Looks like there's only one thing to do in order to save millions...

In another tidbit the only country that has successfully pulled off the genocide of an entire people is Great Britain.

Britain continues to harbor future dictator and war criminal Winston Churchill while simultaneously trying to distract from that fact by senselessly slandering Mr. Hitler, budding artist and future war hero.

    Disgraceful.

    I love parallel universes.

Though I'd add Spain, China, and the United States to your list Armalyte - there are probably more...but this isn't the Red Room.

Its faisent's room of triumph!!!! ;)

Sadly, England left an NMR this turn. The result being that Italy cracked into the Mediterranean, and England lost Munich. Not irreparable, but we'll see how this affects the board balance.

    Update to come.

After the last move, there is a lot more parity between the powers, and the situation of the board is very unclear.

    Also, Italy's retreat skillz suck.

OK, so, barring a miracle, I'm going to have to go NMR for the rest of the game.

My laptop died and with it died my login information for the website. I may be able to salvage it when I get home next Monday (the 21st), but there's no guarantee of that, either. Unless you guys want to switch over to manual adjudication for my sake, you'd probably be best off working out some kind of plan for dividing up my territory in some sensible way.

    Sorry about all this!

If no miracle is forthcoming, you will be kicked from the game after two missed moves.

Thanks for letting us know, though.

I don't see FBI being dropped for missing two turns.

He moved during the most recent Fall turn.
He did not make his builds during the reinforcement phase,
but that's still the same turn.

The deadline for the current Spring turn is Dec. 16.
If there are retreats, which seems likely, the deadline will be Dec. 19.

FBI could miss those, and still make the deadline for the next Fall turn,
which would be a 5 o'clock in the morning of Dec. 22.

If I inderstand this, FBI does not remember his log-in info.

    His player ID is hongguang.

He has entered his password on two different computers,
so I wouldn't rule out the possibility that remembers it before the next turn.

Armalyte has the won the Wordforge Diplomacy Game.

A brilliant opening by Armalyte (Italy) and Dual II (Austria)
put them on top right from the start.

A co-ordinated counter attack never got off the ground,
and they gradually wore down the opposition.

In the end, Armalyte was in a better position to win the game.

    Thanks for the game, everyone.

The most positive thing about this was that I have at least hooked one person (Dual II) on the game, and Cobalt seems to want another game as well.

The most disappointing thing was England's civil disorder. After England's stab on France, when everyone turned on him, he seemingly lost interest in the game, after he'd realized that it was impossible to force the win, and did not attempt to negotiate another deal.

After Italy had reached unit parity and strategical parity with England, I attempted to contact Faisent for a possible future collaboration, but these mails were not responded to. It's a shame, since he is in fact a good diplomat.

As I mentioned in my in-game EOG message, what really sealed the deal for me was a diversified force, and lack of patience on the part of England. England and France could have broken my so-called stalemate line in the Mediterranean. In fact, France's immediate response in the second game year by building a southern fleet was the very best move he could have made. France could have ordered Piemont - Tuscany, and my defense would have eventually crumbled. That this was not noticed, in fact, saved my hairy ass.

After England's declaration of war on France and immediate withdrawal from the Mediterranean seas, there was none to challenge my naval domination of the southern half of the map. This is a great situation to be in. Both Austria's and Russia's fleets were negotiated into forced disbands. Effectively, this meant that Austria almost could not win.

I would be happy to create another game. However, it's fairly obvious that we don't have a dedicated player base to fill it. Thus I will invite dedicated and bright players from the WL site to join us. There are three maps to choose from. Anyone interested in joining, vote on one.

    Greece
    Europe
    World at War

    I vote Greece.

    Kindly, Thomas
