Pfft. That really isn't worth the fuss it's getting. However, I don't think it's a good idea to bring the photo creator into the light. If someone were upset enough, and we know how some idiots can get, then the creator of the image may be harmed or even killed. Personally, I wish people could be mature enough to ignore the prick. If you honestly feel offended by something so ridiculous, I'd say get off the cross.
Off-topic, I love your avatars Caboose. You seem to have a preference for using extant theropod dinosaurs for your avatars. Cool! On-topic, what about yahoo! & bing? What do Michelle Obama image searches yield on those search engines?
Google were quite right to leave the search result there. The original website were quite right to eventually remove it themselves.
As for the photo? Kinda tame given the political environment we've "enjoyed" for decades. As for the outrage? kinda typical given the political environment we've "enjoyed" for decades. In other words, this is just more of the same. Many politicians have been likened to a monkey (or worse) and many people have been outraged by the custom. Yes Mrs. Obama wasn't elected but first ladies have never been exempt from undue mockery.
I wonder how long before news comes out of someone, somewhere in the world who has named an actual pet monkey "Obama" or "Barack Obama" and it causes a huge flapping session.
Listen, I'm sorry, but if you want to get into politics in this country, you're trading your soul to become a serpent with a rattling tail. This shit goes with public office territory. If you're not willing to drag yourself and your family into the mud, you're in the wrong profession.
It's because the Obamas represent Hope and Change and everything good and true, and it's in bad taste to be nay-saying at such a critical juncture in our history as a nation. I will never understand the attitude these companies have. Well sort of. Google wants black people to not be offended. Yes, that's my generalized way of putting it - plenty of white people voted for Obama too. Why alienate them by keeping the image up? If Google didn't have such a... 'personality' it wouldn't be as successful as it is today. But at the same time, it really bothers me. I would give anything just to see them say... "Umm, LOL? Don't like it? Don't use our search engine. n000000000b" This comment is downright scary.
