He opposes federal recognition of marriage completely, and extending the benefits of it to anyone else. You may disagree with the way he goes about that, but a paint-by-numbers religious whako position that ain't. From ontheissues.org:
    • Protect all voluntary associations; don’t define marriage. (Oct 2007)
    • No legislation to counteract the homosexual agenda. (Sep 2007)
    • Voted NO on Constitutionally defining marriage as one-man-one-woman. (Jul 2006)
    • Voted NO on Constitutional Amendment banning same-sex marriage. (Sep 2004)
    Man, what a homophobe.
On Constitutional grounds; in the very link you posted he comments on the ridiculousness of sodomy laws. Frankly, I'm amazed you managed to latch on to one of the few examples of his writing where he actually goes into what he thinks about any given state law; he rarely does, because he doesn't see that as terribly relevant.
Historically a well-supported position until the 14th amendment, and even then for some time thereafter. Even now, not without support given the incompleteness of incorporation against the states, which is not codified anywhere.
An OB-GYN against abortion! Stop the presses!![/sarcasm] He's also the only anti-abortion Congressman who wouldn't force the states to make it illegal. NOW stop the presses! Additionally, he twice voted against bills prohibiting transport of minors (one bill across state lines) to get an abortion. Rabid? Hardly.
"Routine" in Liet-speak means once. In the meantime, he's made statements against school prayer being a federal issue (at the same time!) and voted against a bill allowing it during the War on Terror. Of course, without context for the support of the amendment, it's completely meaningless; he also introduced a bill declaring war on Iraq, despite being completely against the concept.
"Huge fan" in Liet-speak means mentioning him once in, what 6? years.

:lanz: Liet, you suffer from terminal foot-in-mouth disease. I highly suggest removal of said foot, and insertion of a 9mm Glock. It'll ease your suffering.

Wow, you pretty well took him apart chapter by chapter, verse by verse and line by line. It shows how a few selected, distorted and misrepresented statements can be used by the intellectually dishonest to make something appear to be what it is not. When you have an agenda, though, the facts do not matter. Only the spin matters. And it has long been established that Liet is the very least dependable poster on this board when it comes to facts. He will spin "black" to mean "white" if it suits him, and usually throw in an insult for those who don't agree with him while he's at it.

Do you honestly think I didn't know any of that?

"What actually is" needs to die off so something else can take it's place, and that's not gonna come from working within the system.

I take little for granted regarding people on the internet.

Nothing in the U.S. is going to "die off and be replaced" because when you look at the big picture, the United States is not in that bad a shape.

The last time we had a new party was in the run up to the Civil War.

While things are not the best in the U.S. they are a far cry from that era.

That is always entertaining, especially if one has a good supply of marshmellows.

Come now, we could use another Andrew Jackson type. I'd love to see an American president tell the UN to go quote unquote "GO FUCK YOURSELVES!!!!"
