The trump card is the power of the court relies entirely on the government going along with what the court decides. The court really has no ability to force the government to do anything. If Congress or the President tell the Supremes to suck it, there isn't a whole lot the courts can do, especially when public opinion doesn't back the courts. See also, Cherokee v.
