The whole purpose of the burka is to keep men from having impure thoughts (and possibly taking lustful action) when confronted by a woman's beauty. I think Helen Thomas will be okay without.
The biggest question is why certain people are so obsessed with Helen Thomas' looks in the first place. There are plenty of 89-year-old men who aren't going to be showing up on the cover of Playgirl anytime soon, but you don't hear anyone starting threads about forcing them to wear head-to-toe garments, calling them "hideous goat-trolls," etc.
It's a combination of their inability to express their outrage in anything but the most primitive terms, and their underlying belief that all women must first and foremost be judged by their fuckability.
