Well, I live with other people who have every legitimate right to go about their noisy business during the day, but beyond that there is just ambient noise. I'm a light sleeper. Birds chirping, wind blowing, the A/C kicking on, a toilet flush, a jet flying by, damn near anything can wake me up, especially on the rare occasions when I go to bed sober. Some of the best sleep (and most bizarre dreams) I've had in my whole life involved jamming foam plugs in my ear canals. My only reservation about that is how easy it makes it to sneak up on me. But thats why I have a tiny dog with giant ears. Even if I can't hear him bark, his jumping all over the bed to yap at an intruder would wake me up.

I have observed for quite some time that many posters here believe Islam to be worse than Christianity. Indeed, said posts passionately deny that there is any comparison between the two religions.

And yet several so-called Christians have been nominated for "worst human" in this thread, but no Muslims.

It is an unexpected result, and one that demonstrates that humans are astonishing examples of chaos theory in action.

Every news cameraman out there worth a damn frames his shots as his artistic sense decrees - ground on the bottom third of the frame - rocket launches, IEDs exploding, train wrecks, you name it. And I sit there at home watching a clever title graphic obscuring the bottom third of the screen wondering what the fuck is going on under there.

My station runs this HUGE banner over every story we do with some "clever" title/summation of the story. I guess they think that will help clue in people about the subject of the story if they tune in to the station right in the middle of it. Never mind that, many times, the damned thing has incorrect grammar or misspellings on it.

I (and a few others, too, I think) will often deliberately frame shots so important visual information ends up hidden behind that banner. I mean, this is Texas and we've got a lot of sky here, so I'll sometimes put things in the bottom quarter of the frame instead of the bottom third.

I do it in hopes that viewers will complain about it. In fact, I know for a fact that some emails from "viewers" have been sent from several different Hotmail accounts.


The really irritating thing about that damned banner is that they decided to start using it at exactly the same time we switched to shooting in 16:9. So the minute we get all this extra frame "real estate" to play with, those fucking morons decide to cover up a significant portion of it.

I hope they get hit by a bus.
