There's a "Global Wrap" that might be interested in this kind of thing. A quick look didn't reveal this connection but that doesn't prove anything one way or the other.

Global Wrap is the company that invented the "Shrink Wrap" process. As far as I know, they've nothing to do with duct tape.

If I am not mistaken (and I may very well be), 3M is the world leading in duct tape production.

I was referring to the reference to plastic sheeting. Yeah, I didn't see the duct tape part on Global Wrap's site.

Duct tape is used by professional shoplifters. They enter a store with a bag hidden in their coat or skirt that's lined with duct tape, fill the bag when no one is looking, and walk right out of the store. The metal fibers in duct tape completely foils the sensor alarms at the front of the store.
