I'm about to head home and I'm going to have a free day on my hands. I'm going to be able to move hotels and I need to know the closest neighborhood to LAX that is decent. Obviously, I don't want to stay in El Segundo, Compton, or Inglewood.

So, what's the closest nice neighborhood?

The "beaches" just south probably aren't bad. Hermosa and Redondo.

But if you go north of the airport there's Santa Monica and of course Marina Del Rey.

Inland there's Century City and Beverly Hills. I'm unsure about Culver City, to be honest.

In Santa Monica find a place by PCH near the pier and 3rd Street and Wilshire. I dunno, I'm sure there's some good hotels on the coast and Santa Monica has plenty to do/eat/see.

Culver City's decent enough. I'd recommend Venice Beach, just south of Santa Monica. Not far from LAX at all.

I think Garamet should chime in. I think she lives in the Venice/Santa Monica area.
