Japan, Seeking Trim Waists, Measures Millions Oh yeah you don't lose any freedom when the government starts paying for your healthcare. :smoking:
What freedom would that be? The freedom to not have your doctor check if you're over weight when you come in for a check up? Come on, man. Get real.
Oh, God damn. That is some fucking creepy shit right there. Especially the "reeducation" part of it. This shit right here is exactly what the liberals are shooting for. Its just another way for the government to control our lives. I'm a 36 in the waist, guess I will be on the inside of the fence.
If you would read the article, its not their doctors doing a check up. Its "companies and local governments". This guy was summoned to go stand in a line and be measured by the government. I wonder what would have happened if he had ignored the summons? They lack any basic rights in that country.
Yeah, I read it. Telling over weight people to take a class on healthy eating just doesn't sound so freedom crushing to me. More like good medical advise.
My guess is nothing would happen to them if they didn't show up for the class though most insurance companies in the US offer such things already. The only difference is the Japanese are identifying high risk people and the law requires them to take such a class as part of their insurance where as Americans can refuse to take the class and just get hit with higher premiums. Yeah, that wouldn't fly in America and it is coercive to some degree but it probably does work in Japanese culture with it's collectivist instead of individualist outlook.
Yeah, we ain't so big on collectivism here, especially in the south. It does seem that Japan lacks indivualism. They think only of the companies they work for an never of themselves. That ain't no way to live. Especially since companies could not give two shits about their employees.
I said I'm guessing nothing would happen to you if you refused to attend. Yes. Japan is hardly a Stalinist state.
And you base this on what? You think they passed this law and set up a system to check compliance without including an enforcement element. You think they're going to say "oh well no one wants to go to class I guess that's it then". Seriously are you for real? :smoking:
Yes, I'm for real. I doubt anything of substance would happen to someone who refused to attend the class. Worst case scenario they might have to eventually pay a symbolic fine but that's it. They're certainly not going to throw someone in jail if that's what you're suggesting. Of course, nearly all Japanese would dutifully attend the short class and then just keep doing what ever they wanted.
Remember when Kid Korruption got all butthurt because he couldn't have his goose livers or whatever the fuck any more? Is that ironic or what?
Yeah, something like this could never fly in the USA or any other country without UHC. Well except for all those thousands of people who are in jail for putting drugs into their body that hurt no-one but themselves.
The Jap ones aren't. They're normal. I can tell you that. Although the Japess tend to just lay there and make you do all the work. I asked about it and it's cultural. The Japladies lay there and the Japman has to do all the work AND has all the pressure of getting her off. Me, I didn't give a shit. I got mine and that was all that mattered. I still don't get the squealing thing they do in Japorn.
