not a joke. CGI Apes. It's a Battle for the Planet of the Apes/prequel kind of deal. This will not be good.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Again? The only good Apes movie was the original. Everything else, including the Mark Wahlberg remake, was crap. I will not be watching this one.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Ever seen the classic Humphrey Bogart movie Sahara? You know the well they find that's just barely a trickle of water coming out of a slimey rock face it's an Australian flood compared to how dry the Planet of the Apes well is.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all What a load of shit. At this rate, I'm going to stop going to commercial cinema, and stick to the arthouse.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all I wonder if it'll pick up where the Marky Mark remake left off.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all No, it's technically a remake of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, the 4th in the series. But then it still makes sense considering it shows how the Apes got smart and conquered humanity. I won't mind the CGI apes. It would be more believable than actors in make-up. Even Rick Baker's work on the Tim Burton version was hit and miss. As long as the CGI is Gollum or Avatar quality, it will work.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all There was an old comic book store owner who told me that in the comic book industry, it's been widely proven time and again that anything with a gorilla on the front cover, and any cover with purple as its main color, sell very well. (The guy ended up calling his comic book store The Purple Gorilla.) If this holds true for movies too, this movie should make its money back and then some.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all I blame the raises demanded by the apes' union. Their demands were as insane as remaking another Planet of the Apes movie would be.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Is this the one where global warming had destroyed the Earth instead of nuclear war?
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all What? Why?
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Interesting. I dunno about that, but I had noticed a penchant by Marvel to use green and purple--especially for villains and anti-heroes. Hulk? Green with purple pants. The Lizard? Same. Green Goblin? Yup. Doc Ock? Electro? Not all green and purple, but definitely green. Sandman and Scorpion too. I just figured green ink was inexpensive.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all I don't get purple. I could see Red since I heard that's the first color people naturally pick up on. But purple?
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Took me a long time, but I finally got okay with that version. The ending was the only huge problem, and that was because of the Thade Memorial at the end. Not that Marky Mark went back in time, but that you need a Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey level time loop to fit Thade in circa 1860 to create this parallel universe.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Yea, the end was ... completely unbelievable.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all It takes a lot of work on the viewer's part. I figure Thade (who didn't get killed at the end, remember?) dug up the other capsule that Leo (MW) crashed in. He got himself into the timestream and led the revolt Caesar would have in Conquest. Pericles himself could have added his super chimp DNA throughout various points of history as well, explaining the evolutionary divergence.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Ah. Well, that ... would explain things. Where were you when I tried figuring out that ending years ago?
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Getting really high, trying to figure out just WTF happened by way of the easter eggs and all the chekov guns.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all I, for one, welcome our new simian overlords. The original POTA films were classic (except Battle; which blew and didn't fit into the timeline at all). The 2001 version was an abomination; the only things it had going for it were the score (good, but not up to the Goldsmith original) and Estella Warren's tits [?=Side-Boob][/?] I don't even consider the make-up that great [?=Helena BC looks like Michael Jackson FFS] [/?]
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all It would have help had the director manybe mentioned that as a possibility. That old adage about if you show a gun in Act 1 you have to use it in Act 3 has a flip side: if you're going to use a gun in Act 3 you have to introduce it way back in Act 1. Marky Mark's Apes was a fun turn my brain off film as opposed to Heston's Ape which had some level of social commentary.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all That'd be "Chekov's gun". Mentioned a few of them already, such as the "gene spliced, super monkey", and on screen with "signals from all over time". Also, where did Thade's father get the second pistol from? The one in the statue that had been there for "generations". At this point, it's hard not to infer there's a glitch in time... no real problem, as we aren't heading for the same type of ending as the original. I figure that Pericles started of the whole race of uber monkeys or the Oberon crash did. More likely the latter. This allowed for the DNA enhanced descendants of the apes on board to evolve as far as they had. 5-10000 years ago Oberon is nuclear. This allows for the power to still remain after a few thousand years. For the sake of story, the irradiated area becomes the "Forbidden Zone". The region is never fully surveyed, having a Bermuda Triangle like reputation until this timestream discovers radioactivity. At that point, it will simply be known as a place that science cannot safely explore. Thade was later able to salvage the first pod (see EftPoA) and enter the time stream. Finding an 1860's America that had already been altered by exchanging apes for Blacks as slaves (or a history of both being enslaved and working together) he quickly started a rebellion. This leads to the 21st century Washington that Leo returns to. In another parallel to our reality, a chimp is POTUS.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all I figured there'd be sequel explaining the final scene. But after a decade, I figured they really had no answers and left it up to the audience's imagination. Next movie I see with an ambiguous ending, I'm coming to you, Spaceturkey.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all What are you kidding? From the giant crashed alien spaceship they're all from. Thade's family knew the truth of their origins. (Presumably there's lots of various bits and pieces from the ship floating around in their society.) And before you ask, yes - space gun batteries last forever.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all Aside from the FX issue, why the hells does EVERYTHING with ANY brand recognition need to have a sequel made? Goddamn fucking George Lucas led the fucking pack in the prequel trend, and look how that shit turned out. I'll bet we'll be seeing a prequel to "Toy Story" about how Andy got Woody. Fucking Hollywood.
Re: They're doing another Planet of the Apes movie, oh yeah this time the apes will be all There were prequels long before Lucas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prequel
