In movies, and TV? They have had to have been in a sci-fi or fantasy/horror type movie. Not necessarily who you think is the hottest or best actress, just your favorite. For myself, in TV, I'd have to say Morena Baccarin from Firefly, Kristin Kreuk from Smallville, and......third one is hard. I really liked Jewel Staite in Firefly, but also thought Tricia Helfer from BSG showed that she could act. And Grace Park's Boomer had to be one of the most interesting characters, in sci fi. Hrmm, tough call, and it may change, but I'll say Kaylee gets the nod. For movies, it is pretty easy. Kate Beckensale as Selene from Underworld, Natalie Portman as Queen Amedala from Phantom Menace (though Carrie Fisher in ROTJ is very close) and Jessica Alba from both Sin City and Fantastic Four. Honorable mention goes to Sandra Bullock for her role in Demolition Man, but I like her for her other roles in non-sci-fi movies. (plus her tits and ass.) Megan Fox was also considered, but she definitely isn't in my top 3.

If I were to include movies, I could probably think of way more... special nod to Sigourney Weaver as Ellen Ripley in the Alien movies... just for being such a kickass sci-fi chick...

Impossible to come up with just three AND have it open to sci-fi AND fantasy. For sci-fi I'd go: Uhura (because I'm not racist), Captain Samantha Carter (because I liked Stargate:SG-1) and either Grace Park (because she's a hottie) or Katee Sackhoff (because her name inspired the poem "Katee Sackhoff makes me jack-off"). But when you throw in fantasy, then Xena and Garbrielle become a factor. (Particularly Season Six, when they started doing bare midriffs and overt lesbianism. Mmmm... Xena and Gabby... )
