Yes. Originally the amount of rep you could give someone was related to your own total rep score. For example (made up numbers for sake of argument) you had 10,000 rep points, you'd give someone more rep when repping them than someone who had only 5000, for example. This was used to good effect, I can tell you. The system was then later changed so that one rep = one rep no matter who gave it, and everyone was reset to zero when that change came.
Hmmm. Resetting rep might be fun. This 'more rep you have the more rep you can give' thing sounds kind of interesting too.
Y'know, if you really want to reinforce the meaninglessness of rep, something like that would go a long way. Random resets, turning it off for a week at a time, assigning random numbers for no reason, putting baba at max green and everyone else at zero... Oh, what fun it'd be.

I am a bit puzzled by rep war, and why some people get hit. Yeah, sure, maybe Sokar disagrees with just about every liberal bedwetter out there, but some people here get hit by groups of people. What makes the board as a whole respect certain liberals (Dan Leach, Bailey, Alphaman) while others get a good rep assraping?
I suspect it has something to do with the intelligence of the neg reppers. The more intelligent posters here seldom neg rep anyone, while the idiots not only neg anyone they disagree with, but will actively attempt to "destroy" or chase off anyone with whom they disagree politically.

I've seen lots of websites which get tired of clowns like Sokar & Co who go around neg repping every single post from a given poster so they make it that you can give a poster rep but you can't neg rep them. That forces the trolls to find something else to do with there time and totally ends the rep war nonsense.
The fact that anyone on Earth gives a damn about either side in a "rep war" is ones of the saddest and most pathetic things seen on the internet.
