On the one hand, we have Japan's oldest porn star: http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/la-ca-cultural-exchange-20110306,0,7182643.story And on the other, in the good ole' USA, unwed mothers are still whores: http://mediamatters.org/blog/201103030034 Discuss!
In fairness to Huckabee, I don't think he called Natalie Portman a whore. I'm not sure he's even criticizing her per se. He may have a point. It doesn't seem outlandish to me that young girls see celebrity women have kids outside of marriage and think that it looks glamorous or hip. The difference between those girls and the celebrity is that the celebrity has millions of dollars to hire nannies, child care, etc. I have no problem with Natalie Portman having a kid, married or not. And, at the end of the day, I don't really care about some teenager somewhere getting knocked up, either. However, it might behoove those of you who do care to consider the influence celebrities have on young people's attitudes...
Meh. I've never known of a teen getting pregnant because some celebrity did. The majority of the time it's because they're uninformed, misinformed, or oblivious when it comes to safe sex.
Elder-porn... ewww... As for Natalie, at least she's not just shacking up with the guy and has made a commitment.
"Because some celebrity did" is maybe too strong. But kids are certainly aware of and admire celebrities and (if they're anything like me or the kids I grew up with) are drawn to emulate them. Just sayin'.
And Japan's view of sex is superior in your opinion, why? By the way, don't bother telling us that isn't your position; if you implied it any harder, you'd sprain something.
I think it's "superior" to have a healthy, shame-free attitude toward sex than to attack a woman for getting pregnant without being married. That's my "position."
Except Japan as a whole isn't accepting of that type of behavior. The article itself refers to the country as "hyper-conservative," and the most "sexless." (The latter probably has to do with the fact that young couples never see each other, thanks to the salary man lifestyle.) Aren't genitals still blurred out of porn by law? In other ways, Japan is looser on porn, and Mike Huckabee represents only one side of the US spectrum. I don't think either of these articles addresses in any comprehensive way how the respective societies view sex.
Japanese porn is odd--way too much pubic hair (like you'd find in circa 1970's American porn), all the naughty bits blurred out, and an odd obsession with tentacle rape. Go figure....
Traditional belief holds that Jesus of Nazareth was conceived of a virgin. Which implies that he was conceived out of wedlock. Which in turn speaks very well for Joseph, his adopted father.
Cupid, draw back your bow! Let's get Natalie hooked up with this Japanese Hugh Hefner and see what developes.......yeah baby!
Whoops, my apology. I forgot that you lack common sense, or simple logic. Due to continue with your fantasy world. Revel in your stupidity Margaret.
For the really stupid woman named Margaret Wander Bonanno Here you go Margaret, since you are too stupid to actually think that a teenager would choose to get pregnant. Link Notice Margaret, only 82% of teen pregnancies are unplanned. Do draw your conclusions, but you are lying to yourself if you think that 100% of teenage girls who become pregnant was simply by accident.
Neither do you, Hag. So shut the fuck up until you provide back up information for each and every single claim and assertion you make here. One thing is definite. You are most certainly not the "professional" researcher you like to claim to be.
^Found another imaginary friend, I see. I dunno, it's kind of an odd mashup. As others have pointed out, Japan's about as conflicted about sex as the U.S., but for entirely different reasons.
When you can post a link to the user named "Margaret," I'm sure that user will answer your question. If you're speaking to me, you'll need to use the correct user name. Let's see how smart you are.
I don't think its farfetched for a teen to want to get pregnant. She may have unrealistic fantasies about parent-child love, or she thinks it will cement a relationship with a boyfriend. Teenagers are stupid, after all. The "someone to finally love me" incentive has been documented among poor minorities in particular.
Actually I did. But, Margaret, you are once again, too stupid to notice. You have made several claims in this thread. You have made claims about Japan, a country you have never visited and you have made assumptions. All made with nothing to back up your statements. Then you have the nerve to demand others provide statistics? Basically its the same shit, different day from you Margaret.

Wow, I'm surprised. Margaret finally decided to hold herself to the same standard she seems to hold others too. Good job Margaret. Now go have your dinner plate.
