Without accepting the details presented here as fact. Obama has dragged his feet on every major military decision of his Presidency.

Except this was a major glory moment for Obama. The man is a massive egomaniac. The chance to the be The One who brought down bin-ladin would have caused him to act with all due speed.

Whatever the motivation he acted correctly here.

This is a very complicated question. I think Obama has his own ideas of what is good for this country and despite the fact that he has no background to help him form useful ideas, he still refuses to alter his ideas and plans no matter what.

I think that a large part of Obama hates this country. Looking at his history that fits perfectly. Raised in his youth in countries that hate and are jealous of the US success, it would be almost impossible for that not to sink into his psyche. Compound that with then living in the African-Amercian community in Chicago that also thinks they've been shafted by the US and it only furthers that view. Then he becomes a community organizer, which is code for buck the system and blame the gov't.

Finally we have a man who for 20+ years went to the church of the Rev Wright. A man who preaches "God damn America" and other vitriolic hatred. For a person to go and stay in a church like that he has to have America hate. The sermons then reinforce and enhance that hate.

So to sum, I think Obama feels that we've had it too good and that we should not have any more than anyone else. I think his ultimate goal (which he sees as good) is to take this country down so we're not a super power and not the leader of the free world. He wants our standard of living down to match Indonesia and the other places he lived in. For the leader of any country to have views like that is reprehensible.

My problem with the narrative is that only the people involved would have direct knowledge of it. Even a senior aide wouldn't know about it unless it was told to them by one of the players, and you wouldn't be hearing about it here unless they wanted it released.

I do believe one thing. I believe that Obama had nothing to do with the planning, but he probably did give the go ahead with the mission and that he did watch it take place.

This can be refuted by the indisputable fact that Mr. Obama gave the kill order that eliminated three Somali pirates.

Plus, one cannot succeed in Chicago without ordering someone killed. It is an achievement that needs to be unlocked, even by community organizers.

However, Nova, you can be happy in the fact that Mr. Obama is, in fact, an immigrant. He has proven it by doing a job an American would not do.

Wow. Doc comes up with some good talking points. You'd think he was listening to late-night comics rather than beaming them in from the future. :)

    I defended my point.

That I use a likely fictional source to ILLUSTRATE the point doesn't mean I'm asserting the fiction is fact.

Some among us simply lack the higher order thinking skills to distinguish the two.

Sorry, you can't use fiction to defend an argument. That's ridiculous. It's right up there with referencing 24 to defend your views on national security, or citing Star Trek to illustrate a claim that aliens exist.

Good point - a simple "yes" or "no" will do, won't it?

Rush pointed out something interesting on my drive back from lunch today. Where's the media pushing him to release the pictures? We got a huge blast over the push to hold back pics of caskets when it was the Bush administration...

As a technical point, even if this were true, telling Panetta "you have the green light to go when you get ready" IS giving the kill order. That wouldn't make the official statement false. Just lacking in nuance.

It just wouldn't be as clear cut in this scenario as in the official story.

And besides, I've no doubt that virtually every major event in the last 50 years has a MUCH more nuanced "backstory" than the sheeple are ever told about.
