I had some kind of jet ski and got to a water plant/station, then a helicopter started chasing me and I was just like fuck it, I'm not enjoying this.
Starflight or Half-Life 2. One of those would be #2. #1 is obviously the Atari 2600 masterpiece, E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial! THE WORLD IS A CUBE! IT'S A CUBE!
35 posts and you fuckers haven't mentioned Chrono Trigger??? You can all sit on an Atari controller and rotate! But really....Chrono Trigger has to rank right up there with the very best. Good story, characterization, battle system, and multiple endings that made it a true "choose your own adventure" game, there hasn't really been anything like it since. In terms of popular ones, the Street Fighter series has to rank high up there, especially all the iterations of SF2. Starcraft is also at the very top, along with Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Final Fantasy 7. I also get a kick outta some of you mentioning Star Control and Starflight. I wouldn't put it up there with the greatest games of all time but they both sure were some DAMN fun games!
I've never PLAYED Chrono Trigger. I even have the PS1 version that I got with FFIV (FF Anthology??? FF Chronicles???? One of those sets).
Ocarina of Time often does top critical lists of the best videogames ever. To me it looks monotonous and kittyish, like most N64 games. I've never played any Zelda games. Best videogame of all time? I dunno. Depends on what genre you like.
Hard to name just one game. If I had to choose I'd go for Mario Kart. It's been insanely addictive on every platform it's ever been released on. A timeless classic.
Best game ever? C'mon, it's not really a contest. Super Mario Brothers 1. It saved the entire video game industry. 2. It launched a game franchise that continues to this day. 3. It started the career of Miyamototo Siyeyjhekh (?) who crapped out most of Nintendo's hits.
