Yeah. Also, it takes forever to get games. I've had to wait about 2 weeks for them to ship something. It's probably getting cancelled at the end of the summer.

My experience has been that they'll ship me a game that is lower on my "GameQ." maybe this is because I keep several games lined up. For instance a hot new game will come out and it's been at the top of my Q for weeks. I'll send in a game in anticipation if the hot new game's release and instead of sending me the next game on my list, admittedly a very popular game, they'll send me number 5 or 6 on my list.

If you have the patience to wait it out, you can play a lot of games and save a lot of money. You have a couple of kids, right? If they are like mine and want the next great release and it's hard to keep up with the $60/game pace, GF could be an economical solution for you. If you're like me and you only play a game or two a month and you want what you want now, then it might get a bit frustrating. My advice would be to try it out. Oh... and I use a pre paid debit card for my GF account. All of the hacks in the news against game companies got me worried months before Sony was victimized.

actually no. My youngest sold something on e-bay and he's trying to figure out what to do with it and he's tempted by the "one month free trial" thing (figuring if he pays for a month he'll get two months.

But I have no valid credit card so whatever.

and yes, he want's the latest and greatest (particularly InFAMOUS2)

Will it work with one of those refillable credit cards?

I have a debit card, no idea if it will work...I worry about him being disappointed if it's that slow and he can't be sure he'll get what he wants.

Dude... inFAMOUS 2 is a great game, but it's not multiplayer. He's not trying to coordinate playing with his school buddies. It can wait a week or two, IMHO. I buy games for me and my kids GameFly because they play a ton more than I do and there's no way I could keep up. We're talking $15/month vs. A $60 buy 3-4 times a month. I'd say go for it.

The question is can he finish Infamous2 in 4 to 6 weeks?
A 2 month trial (2/4weeks to get it according to this thread)

How much did he make on ebay?
Maybe he has enough to just buy Infamous there?
I guess his money is in a paypal account, no idea if Gamefly takes paypal.

There ya go. Can he get it, and get done with it, before the clock runs out.

Oh, and he hasn't actually made the money yet, he's trying to sell an item which isn't, so far, selling. if he sold it he'd make enough for a month.

Ultimately though, he'll change his mind 5 times between now and then.

Maybe you can talk someone here into buying it for 40 bucks!
He might find a new game on ebay for that.

You can also check Craigslist. Gamestop gouges people with $25 on the buyback and turn around and resell it for $55. A lot if people let their used games go for $40 each there.

We use GF at my place and we use a pre-paid debit card for the account as well.

We always have a list of games lined up(3 guys on one account) and we usually get our top pick, but we're in no rush. We usually keep a game for a month and a half or more, then trade it back in.

Works for us, but I could see how being impatient would make it a crap service and not worth the money.

does anyone still have this? Has the service gotten any faster/more reliable in the past year? Based on the frequency of commercials it seems like it's gaining popularity.

I canceled it a while ago and never looked back, though I rarely play console games/disc based games anymore.

I just wait for Steam to have a sale. Their huge summer blowout sale is coming up in about a week.

I have so many games I never played in my library because of Steam sales. Also a bunch that I did play, though. I wonder if they'll have anything interesting this time...

I'm hoping for Killing Floor. It's already cheap but it goes on sale fairly often. Not sure what else I'll get, I have a lot of 2011's most popular games on my wishlist but I doubt I'd play through most of them.

I still have it. I haven't rented a game in almost 6 months now. I just haven't canceled it yet. Truth is that everything I want to play, I want to keep it.
