Well dear friends this it.
"Parallaxis" was started nearly, if not exactly, 10 years ago.

Originally joining Trekbbs as "Doctor Phlox" (lame I know, Enterprise hadn't officially started yet) and after taking a short winter break it was only a matter of months later when I came back as Parallaxis.

Like Abed from Community I'm really bad at making names. Needing a new name I came up with the only thing I could, a merging of 'Parallel Axis' from the open physics book in front of my computer at the time. (or maybe I was looking at "Parallax" and just added an 'is', I don't remember anymore).
Strange though in my head I've always pronounced it "Para-Lexus." At the time it meant nothing and a yahoo search would turn up nothing.
Now you type it in and a band comes up. I don't know if they took the name from me or not. Looking at their pictures they certainly seem like the type to hang out on a nerd bbs.

I helped found TrollKingdom, created worlds (DarkKingdom, SlipStream Undergound), toppled empires with mere words (SlipStreamBBS, TrekTalk, whatever that Trekbbs comic site was). I was a rogue to some (Trekbbs), a wise sage to others (TerranBBS, EFCL) and a friend to few (Wordforge).

Today is not just one less Wordforge account, today is the loss of the institution that is Parallaxis. The last bit of Para-light still shinning on the internet is about to go out.

The last of the biggest thorns in Trekbbs' side is ending tonight.

Gone are all those I started out with... Red Whacker, Robl, Che, Executor, Captain Decker, Skinofevil, Miss Manners, BobbyT, Wordin, Aries, Barcode, Starman, and all the others I can't remember.

I am the last.
One day, one of you will be the last of your Wordforge kind. A sad day that will be too.

Perhaps one day, I will be able to return.

BTW, Lanz my account is really messed up. I changed my account's email to a nonexistent bogus one so I could use it to make Charlie Sheen. But you banned Charlie Sheen so now I can't change it back.

Wow. How long ago that all was/seems. I remember Executor and his BR thread dumps, they used to be 'epic.'

Just took a spin through some other Trekbbs spinoffs I used to knock around on. EFCL I can't even find, Terran has all of three people, and TK... well TK is what it is. While the membership and volume and quality of posting here may be in decline, WF is most definitely the longest lasting of any of the spinoff sites.

Why are you leaving, Parallaxis? Maybe all you need is to take just a break....?

Also, is Wordin = Oerdin? I wondered about that.

Maybe we need a "Who is the Best Captain/Kirk vs. Picard vs. Sisko vs. Janeway vs. Archer" battle to make you feel like home again...

Actually I've never used many duals, usually just to bypass a ban.
My longest dual was "Doyle" on Trekbbs. And of course "Lorne" on the TK ezboard.

*Interesting note- I once had a dual named "Jill" something or other on Trekbbs. I used it a handful of times to post messages before it was banned. Well a newbie Admin deleted the account instead of banning it. Through some kind of glitch this caused the account title to change to "moderator." This is in turn sparked a discussion about who the new moderator was and why he was banned.

So does that make me the shortest mod in Trekbbs history?

Yep, it was one of the BR leaks and mod account hacks that caused Christian to ban my account. He decided any high profile TK member was too dangerous to stay.

I thought this was Wordforge 13.

Technically this would be Wordforge V.

Ah, so WF is not the oldest continuing Trek spinoff then, not by at least 11 months.

We've evolved beyond Trek.
