...get out of the kitchen! Unless that kitchen is the size of HALF THE COUNTRY! And not a little baby Euro country...a real country. Here in The South no big deal....in North Dakota not so much. So WF...is it hot enough fer ya? http://www.wtsp.com/news/article/201502/3/Dangerous-heat-wave-forecast-for-half-the-country A scorching weekend across the Plains and upper Midwest - including 100-degree temperatures and withering humidity from Texas to South Dakota - was a feel of what's forecast to be a dangerous heat wave across most of the central and eastern USA. Some of the warmest temperatures so far this summer are forecast this week for the big cities along the Interstate 95 corridor in the East, AccuWeather meteorologist Bill Deger says. "New York, Philadelphia and Washington could approach 100 degrees, with temperatures sure to feel much warmer than what the thermometer reads," he says. Little relief is in sight: Above-normal temperatures are predicted to last the next couple of weeks over much of the eastern half of the USA. More than 40 states will see highs in the 90s or higher this week, according to AccuWeather.
Boise is extremely pleasant today. Temps in the mid-80's, AC off, windows open. Sunny and warm. Summah!
That should have been "wash your ass", but I felt like it was too soon after the big "wash your ass", thread. That'll teach me.
100 degrees is a heat wave? We call it summer. Though oddly we've been having thunderstorms as late as June and there's still snow in the Sierras! Backyard pool+A/C=
Freezing a couple of bottles of water to take with me when I run stairs. Accepting that driving anywhere means I arrive sweaty. Not really doing much else differently. It's summer.
A block and a half is more than enough to get a sweat going in this heat. I can stand it, but I'm really not built for this kind of weather. Battling my own biology by living in it.
I ride my bicycle to work and everyone is always amazed "OMG, isn't it too hot?" and "Don't you sweat?" I guess there's enough of a breeze on the bike. Besides, it would take longer to drive the car over than to ride the bike - what with getting out of this parking lot, stopping at the gate, waving my badge, driving to the other parking lot, finding a parking spot ....
It hit 106 here in Dallas today. It's been 24 days straight of triple digit temps, the 4th highest record in history here. The highest being 1980 with 42(?) days straight. But I'm not complaining, I didn't move to Texas to enjoy 80 degree days.
Hell... was working at one place where the outside temps were 110+ during a heat wave.... when we'd walk out at end of the shift, it felt COOL outside. Took a thermometer in to see what the temps were. It was over 120 inside, the thermometer went to 120, and the red was past the 120 mark. Most people would go through at least a gallon of water a day. Some days I'd go through two gallons easily.
