Apparently he also liked World of Warcraft. http://techland.time.com/2011/07/26...ideo-games-but-video-games-dont-make-killers/ I liked the first Call of Duty but haven't bothered with the next two that came out. Imagine what he might have done if he'd gotten into DC Universe.
Really?! Just how close do you think CoD is to actual shooting? I've spent a lot of time on CoD: Modern Warfare 2 and CoD: Black Ops and I've spent plenty of time behind many pistols, shotguns, and rifles. I can tell you there is no correlation, they're nothing alike. AT ALL. I average a 27-9 kill/death ratio on CoD too, does this make me a mass murdering machine? Hell no. Even the game play is not even close to how a real life breach and clear would go down. Simulation? That's a shit simulation.
What's funny is the rationale he gives for telling people you've started playing World of Warcraft - that it will be accepted as a reasonable explanation for why you're isolated yourself from the world for up to a year!
It's the sad truth though. Whenever I haven't heard from someone in ages and they tell me the reason is because of WoW, I immediately understand and feel sorry for them.
There was no crime before videogames. No one thought to shoot each other before Space Invaders. No one thought to roll barrels toward people on contruction sites until Donkey Kong. No one threw turtle shells at each other while go-karting until Mario Kart.
Modern Warfare 3 looks like it'll be a pretty accurate simulation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMb0ZP6hnkc
