http://www.thestar.com/business/art...jects-could-add-131-billion-to-economy-report See, we don't need the US. Kidding. But we do need to have access to the the Asia markets too. Hopefully we get it done.
The Asia markets and Canada will figure out how to make the connection cleanly and safely with or without the U.S. We (the U.S.) need to get our stuff together and stop regulating ourselves out of these opportunities every time they show up.
Yeah saw that. 60 days to approve it. Fucking smart move by the Republicans. The Democrats got their ass handed to them on a silver platter.
Obama will undoubtedly get this re-spun as a jobs-creator. It is, but not the huge one that's been advertised. As I understand, most of the jobs are construction. That's not bad but the real benefit is a long-term one. Either way, I don't care. This is a good thing. He's going to get credit for it because he's president, whether or not he was actually for it (he wasn't) or had his arm twisted into it. Good for the Republicans for making it happen!
Yeah. Don't really care either. It is forcing his hand, but it will be seriously beneficial for Canada, so if he spins it in his favor, more power to him. He did approve it after all. If he does that is.
The protesters are living in a fantasy world. Oil won't go away tomorrow. We need it. You need it, and the pipeline benefits both our countries.
Now this is real economic stimulus. Forget that stuff Congress passed in 2009, this will have both short-term and long-term benefits for both countries. In addition to the strictly economic ones, our national security is improved by relying on a long-term, stable ally as an even greater source of energy. A win-win if there ever was one.
Plus, I read somewhere that there is over $100 billion dollars worth of oil projects being put through the system and Alberta is seriously on the verge of a boom. So the oil will keep pumping, and we might as well pump it your way. Stable, and you don't have to invade us.
And workers...if you are a truck driver with the right qualifications you could have a job tonight out here.
Damn! I was gonna buy me some protection and invade me a hot Canadian gal, if you follow. Hey Ezri...
Well it is almost time for another penthouse letters moment. How do you perform in front of camera again lol
Oh, BS. They're also building a pipeline to the Pacific so really the one to the US is nice but not critical to Canada.
It is a jobs creator. That's the way construction works. You build a project and then move on...to building the next project. Jobs are created and sustained that way. Somebody should really explain this to the Obama.
My understanding is that one of the reasons it is important to get to Texas is that that is where the refining capacity is. One the one hand oil is obvious sold on the open market. On the other, due to the requirement that refineries be built/modified for each different kind of crude it isn't completely a commodity. See the case where Chavez sold off his American refineries to try and make a statement but still has to ship his oil there to be processed.
As I've said before, increased drilling for the short term, nukes for the medium, and alternatives for the long term.
