http://www.king5.com/news/cities/be...not-going-down-without-a-fight-135903438.html So we've had more than enough threads on religious people getting bent out of shape when they aren't given special treatment by the government, but what about secular? Is fair, fair?
Huh. Around here the mail carriers are free to wear Santa hats...along with their uniforms. Maybe the objection is that he's not wearing anything identifying him as a USPS employee?
I wanna know which tightass of a co-worker complained. That fucker would get to deliver all the catalogs this year if I ran the Post Office!
"But this year, a co-worker complained, saying he wasn't in compliance with the dress code. So the postmaster ordered him to stop wearing it." Some stupid leftist co-worker of course.......
Well, the dress code is the dress code. It's not a religious or secular issue. Besides, if we wanted to be pedantic, Santa Claus does have his origins in Christianity. That said, I've had employers that let people come to work in sports jerseys on game days, and in jeans when the rodeo was in town. If the postal service allows those kinds of exceptions, I don't see the harm in letting the guy dress up as a secularized Santa.
Indeed. I can't imagine being petty enough to make a formal complaint about some bullshit like that. Sounds like somebody doesn't have enough work to do, if they have nothing more important to worry about.
If he's the regular mail carrier on the route, and people know him (as opposed to the rotating cast of characters who've delivered my mail in the past year...never the same person two days running), then leave him alone. Let him wear his photo ID somewhere, and let him have his fun. Because it's not as if no one's ever impersonated, say, a LEO or other uniformed personnel in an attempt to case/rob/kidnap anyone, and wouldn't a Santa costume be the perfect disguise this time of year?
Come to think of it, I can understand why companies want to err on the side of caution these days. We got a letter from our power company a few months ago explaining that they'd changed the format of their ID badges, showed a printed picture of the new ones, and cautioned us not to be alarmed if someone showed up near the house with one of the new ones. They even explained where the badges were supposed to be displayed. Too much? Maybe. But better too much than not enough. As for this guy? I'd still want to see some ID prominently displayed at the very least.
The co-worker didn't complain because he's not wearing his id. Co-worker either complained because they are a shit head leftist or the co-worker wanted to do something and was told no or the co-worker is just one of those shitbags at work who make everyone miserable on purpose.
I watched the vid at the link. "Santa" was wearing the USPS trousers and the employee complained because of "safety concerns." Santa gets in pass; the coworker needs to be shown what a real "safety concern" is.
why leftist? coulda just as easily been some "Christ back in Xmas" neo-con-job as well. or is it just because leftists raped your dog and killed your mom?
