So, you don't think he was saying, "it is lies..." rather than "[Satan's] lies," or some such?

Would that Nancy Pelosi, Debbie Wassermann-Schultz, Joe Biden and Harry Reid weren't prominent evidences against you on that one. Oh, and Elizabeth Warren, and Sheila Jackson Lee, and...

Yeah, actually, the left's got a whole big fuckin' barge load of nutters. Funny, innit?

This guy isn't an extremist. He represents the very heart and soul of the Republican Party and his views, no matter how deranged rational people find them to be, are agreed with by the MAJORITY of Republicans. Yes, they really are that stupid. People just like the raving loon in the OP control the entire Republican Party.

there's SOME truth to this among the sheep who can be manipulated by buzz words. But by the same token, the vast majority of African Americans would agree with this sort of thinking too (per capita, they are a lot more "church-ed" in their beliefs, no matter their behavior)

Regardless of party, the great majority of people are woefully ignorant, and only a few are highly informed.

Speaking of imbecilic nutjobs in power. . . Rick "Allow me to make homophobic comments while music from a gay composer plays in the background" Perry says Satan was responsible for "Separation of Church and State" being in the Constitution.

Tell you what, Rick, let's get rid of that whole silly business and to atone for our sins, we'll make an Ultra-Orthodox Jew President. See how much you like it when everyone is forced to keep kosher. Given that in large parts of the South BBQ means pork, and lots of folks like cheese on their burgers, I can't see this working out too well.

Its scary how many people out there want to turn the US into a theocratic shithole like Iran.

Our only hope is for these people to die off.

Maybe one day the fundie Christians and fundie Muslims will kill each other off and the world will be rid of their lunacy.

Anyone have information on Jews in the colonial/revolutionary era?

We keep hearing this inclusive "Judeo-Christian foundation" thing... How many of the founding fathers were Jewish? What percentage of the population in 1790 was Hebrew?

A quick Google flail suggests that there were about 1500 in the US at that time and about 100 of those fought in the war.

At first I refused to believe that even a bare majority of any group of Americans in 2012 could fundamentally reject evolution in any way close to what this politician did.

Then I googled poll results and found one that said 46 percent believed God created humans within the last 10,000 years just as they are.

Space Turkey here is the Jewformation you requested. You owe me $750 - but I've been known to haggle!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Colonial_America

Regardless of the Jew percentage, often the term "Judeo-Christian" is used because the New Testament (Christian) is a continuation of the Old Testament (part of which is used by Jews as The Torah) and Jesus was a Jew, etc. etc. long story short over time customs, specific rules, holidays, etc. differ but the foundation is the same. Kind of like divergent evolution, if evolution weren't a pack of lies propagated by Satan, along with dinosaur bones.

a pretty small percentage (still relatively small actually) - there exists, I believe, a letter from Washington to a Hebrew congregation assuring them that the religious liberties of the new government applied to them as well. It's been a while since I read about it but I think I have the basic details right

No, they aren't. I posted another thread about this. While 58% of Republicans profess to believing in young earth creationism, 34% of Democrats do as well.

Alarmingly, many people on WF thought that this wasn't a big problem, thus providing cover for morons like Broun.

People can believe the earth is as old as they want to. But pretending it's a scientifically proven fact is an outrageous lie, and nobody who believes as such should be allowed within 50 miles of a scientific committee.
