To answer Mr. Chomsky; Sorry, but the two candidates think that Americans out of work and people being killed in Libya are more important right now.
I stopped reading when he said the fate of the species was at stake. That level of hyperbole means he's a wingnut. Also, Chomsky is a linguist, he should probably stick with that.
How to address [-]global warming[/-] climate change: Do everything the hippies tell you. And make them tell you how to do everything. Barrage them. Batter them with requests for their oh-so-enlightened advice. Until they give up. Until they shut the fuck up. Until they leave the rest of us the fuck alone.
I wonder how Chomsky thinks it would be possible to bring about a peaceful resolution to the ME crisis, given that the hostilities against Iran, are - at least in part - due to the US drive to compete with Russia and China on the global stage. Diplomacy with Iran still seems very "Red" to me, with support for an Isreali first strike against Iran. But what of the "Blue" option? Chomsky suggests a nuclear free zone in the ME, but this is unrealistic without a major change in US foreign policy in the ME, and especially towards Israel. In short, the US would never give up its interests in dominating the region, hence it sticks with the "Red" option. The only other option, therefore, is a revolutionary reorientation of US foreign policy and global ambitions. This would require a fundamental change at the domestic level, with the coming to power of those people committed to ensuring the worlds' peace and prosperiety at the expense of the capitalist-dominated interests of the US ruling class.
They don't like it when the question is posed high. With Israel's first strike policy on Iran, the threat of nuclear war is now greater than ever.
