We need a discussion about appropriation of other posters' IP.

Since apparently some of the less capable and less intelligent trolls on the board can't find any way to troll other than by using other peoples' images, and since that's not exactly legal (calls into question Rule #2), it may be necessary to explicitly state in the rules that such is not permitted.

I'm quite a lot less likely to share anything with this board if it's going to be appropriated and misused, and I'm pretty sure that that kind of behavior isn't anything we would want WF to be known for. Not only is it bad for the board's reputation as a place for discussion, it's trolling of the most lazy and unimaginative variety.

If it were a piece of Nocturne of Vladimir Jazz's artwork being used without his permission, I'm pretty sure it would be squashed quick. I expect no less to be the case with my photography.

If it were a piece of Nocturne's art, Tamar would eat your guts.

I would refer the OP to this post and advise the following:-

1) Go get a legal education so that you might grasp the concept of implied consent;

2) Go see an IP lawyer if you think there is a law that will protect you between Red Room and Green Room (the sheer laughability of the concept is brilliant).

3) The board policy has been clear for a long time. Pretending to be ignorant of that policy is not credible.

4) According to you, the person in the photos is not you, therefore you are not being trolled with it.

In terms of trolling, if anything, the very fact that you posted pictures of this gentleman in the Green Room, as if this person was you, suggests it is actually you who has been trolling up the Green Room (and various other protected threads) for quite some time. Not only with these pictues, but also your various accounts. You are, after all, the one who has personally admitted that it's all part of a carefully constructed troll persona. Why have you been trolling in the Green Room?

So, it seems you are between a rock and a hard place. If the person in the picture is indeed you, and therefore we are trolling your person, you will have to admit it. This means your troll persona will establish a desperately sad attempt to bring some attention seeking mystery to your internet identity. In the alternate, if it is not, you have been trolling outside of the Red and Grey Rooms. Which is it?


As for "your photography", do you really class a few smartphone pictures of some random fat guy through instagram (or something akin to it), artistic work?

I find it weird that he initially claimed the pictures weren't of him, and is suddenly backtracking. Especially after I've already confirmed the pictures are of myself. It seems like a clear attempt at getting El Chup and Faceman warned or banned.

This isn't the forum for trolling. Those are not pics of, or taken by, you. That information can be confirmed by Tamar, among others.

Okay, so El Chup and Faceman are using photos of skinofevil as avatars, skinofevil wants them to stop. And the photos were originally used as avatars by skinofevil.

Here are my thoughts: There is no legal issue. The photos themselves were made public by skinofevil so there is no privacy issue. Yet using another member's photo as an avatar could reasonably be seen as trolling. In other words both sides have merit. So it's another judgment call.

Question is, do you guys want to make the call or do you want me to make the call?

The Red Room is a place to let off steam, to tell tall tales, to unwind without reason, it's an internet pub of sorts where all variety of nonsense is welcome.

skinofvisiondonut has repeatedly insisted these photographs are not him. This is a board wide position that he has maintained beyond the Red Room. Surprise, surprise, when he sees the chance to exploit something for his own benefit, all of a sudden they become of him. To add to this, we have Chad telling us that the photos are actually of himself.

I believe that there was a recent precedent set for these sorts of instances where things are cloudy, namely that any potential issues in a non-Red Room thread requires that it be relocated to the Red Room. That way, in the unlikely scenario that Mr. ofcastle's claim to be the person the photos is actually the truth, there will be no wrongdoing underway.

Agreed. The thread title is a clear and intetional attempt to troll by by parodying the thread I set up as regards Dayton's trolling.

A ruling on this issue has already been made by the uber admin:

This thread is therefore trolling the Helpdesk and without merit. The only appropriate response is to issue warnings to him for starting the thread, followed by banning Packard.

You posted them in the Green Room of your own free will knowing the only forum where information is protected in the Blue Room. You knew it, you knew it for years and you did it anyway.

You want to share pictures that are protected from shenanigans, make a Blue Room thread. Otherwise, suck it up like the rest of us do or call a lawyer and waste your money...whatever.
