NOT! Talk about a band that realizes Priority #1 is "to entertain" and brings it! Another example of a band that restores my faith that good music is still being made, it's just under the radar a bit. Enjoy! [YT="Vintage Trouble - live on David Letterman"]ThZZnS4Jvwc[/YT]
I'm listening to the album on Spotify right now. It's pretty good. This is probably one of those bands that go over better live than in the studio. They'll be opening for the Who in Europe in June and July and will also be opening for the Rolling Stones at the Hyde Park show in July. They should get a lot of exposure there.
Dammit. These guys are playing my favorite club at the end of the month, but I'm going to be out of town attending my niece's high school graduation.
Reviews say their studio work captures their live feel quite well. Now if only I can get my CD player working in my car, I'd have great "pump me up for work" music.
Damn, they're good. That lead singer is incredible. And they learned from The Commitments -- "All Motown brothers wore suits."
Last year I saw a really good blues band from East Texas. The singer/guitar player is a big, big kid. So big he made the full-size Strat he was playing look like a little Squire Strat you'd buy for a child to play (my daughter has one and it's little). He and the rest of the band were dressed in t-shirts and jeans and, while watching their set I kept thinking they all should've been in suits.
And sadly, talent seems to be a tiny fraction of the recipe for success. Granted, a talented act can make a living if they hustle, but for SUPERSTAR status it's a crap-shoot.
