You can't improve someone else, they have to want to improve themselves and he doesn't see anything wrong with his thoughts or actions. Until he does, which is unlikely as he seems to enjoy seeing himself as the martyr here, it would be impossible to change Dayton at all.
Ward? Well he can start by penning some original fiction & other works instead of authoring more tie-fi. Not that his Trek tie-fi isn't half-bad
I guess some are just so befuddled at someone that is so completely in denial as to how loathsome one can be yet still think themselves to be above others because he avoids profanity in said loathsome views. Seriously, just about every WFer has made some major changes in their behavior over the past decade of this board's existence (most for the better, some for the worse) except him. Everyone learns and grows but him. And I honestly feel sorry for his family that they're saddled with him.
Oh, I don't know ... maybe some adaptive reuse of spaces downtown ... maybe some nice developments along the riverfront ...
Everyone knows the town you live in. If ever a wordforger had a psychotic episode and decided to sort you out, you'v figurativley left the front door wide open for them! Clown!
Before talking about how to improve him, perhaps someone could elaborate on specifically what it is about him that needs fixing.
Asperger's syndrome is/was another name for autism. It still exists. See, you learned something. Don't you feel smarter already? Now go get those books!
Asperger's is what's known as a high-functioning form of autism. Many cases, if treated proper, can go on to live productive lives.
Even now people care enough to want to let Dayton off the hook with some kind of diagnoses. I don't buy it. He was an ass for a long time, got himself buried in neg-rep...then eventually altered his behavior so well, and for so long, we worked himself back to full green. Clearly, his behavior is under his control and he likes what he's doing. He has unpopular and in some cases vile opinions and he wants to make people agree with him at any cost. Even though it's obvious few here will, he still relentlessly tries. He's a troll. One good at manipulating people and rules which is particularly frustrating but that is what he is, not some poor, sick person who can't help himself...because Dayton can and has.
No doubt that is all true, and he's functional enough to attempt to control it. But even when he was on good behavior, he's expressed on several occasions that there are some things he just doesn't get. But that aside, being mentally ill is no excuse for at least making an attempt to correct the behavior. Borgs has Aspergers, but chose not to tell too many about it because most associate it to people like Dayton.
I have social anxiety yet i choose to treat it. The only thing that really hasn't changed with me is I am still pretty stubborn on civil rights/liberties, I also don't trust anyone with power that includes ceo's and politicians, why I support things like anti-trust and oversight and regulation.
